dd3510 port tuning?

Recommended Posts

hi all, in the process of making a new sub box, essentially exact same as my current one but with a double baffle and proper 45 degree pieces in the corners. the box is for 2 dd3510's and external dimensions are 300H x 850W x 550L, port is 48 sq inch and 580mm long and peaked at 33hz.

now my question is i hear people saying DD's should be tuned higher to reach their potential as they dont like being tuned to low blah blah, anyway is this correct? should i tune the box slightly higher and if so how long should my port be?

p.s sorry for the metric measurements, im an aussie haha, any help would be appreciated! :drink40:

I've also heard that dd like higher tuning they still get low while being tuned higher I would shoot for 36-38htz but never messed with dd subs I would tune higher yes

cheers for the replies guys, yeah i think il shoot for between 36-38 hz. pulled a 141db @ 33hz without the amp giving the subs full power, and the box not properly sealed in a 4 door sedans boot so i was pretty happy with that, hopefully with some higher tuning and proper tuning on the amp i can get around mid 140's.

I'd stay in the mid/upper 30's as well. Their stiff suspensions help them maintain control below tuning. Whereas with some of my "softer" subs, they'll start to crap on themselves at 25hz in a 30hz box.

my 3518´s are tuned to 32 hz , but yes , you don´t need a low ass tuning, those 3510´s can go WAY lower than tuning frequency without any problems, just saying...
