Power Consumption/Alternator recommendation?

Recommended Posts

Greetings all,

I am building a new sound system in my 1996 Impala SS. I will be running 700 watts RMS of MacIntosh amplifier power total.

My plan is to run one XS Power 3100 battery in the trunk with the amps and would like to know if I will need more than the stock alternator to power the car/sound system. I have a feeling that I am pretty close to the limit on what a stock alt will handle.

Thanks in advance,

SQPunk

Should be good on 700. Im thinking your stock alt is at least 100amps.
