trjohnst
I was wondering what is the best wire to use for remote wire. I currently have, and have always had, a large guage (tiny wire) a large wire for my remote wire. The one I have now has like 10 strands of copper in it, maybe less. What should I use for my remote wire, what guage is sufficient, and does it matter what type of wire? trjohnst
I wonder if there is a "standard" wire for the remote wire. I've never had a problem, just wondering if a larger one would increase my input voltage. Louisiana Bass
Anything 18 and bigger will do. He'll, you can probably get away with 22awg. It carries such little power that it's fine. Someone made a thread about this a few weeks back. One guy said he used a paperclip to extend the wire to make it to his radio. Quote N8. No homo...unless you want there to be. Autruche
^lulz. Most remote wire that comes with amp kits is 32-28 gauge wire. For the current (only mA) flowing through the average remote wire it will suffice. I usually use about 24-18 gauge for remote wire as it is more rugged and easier to work with. I usually just split a chunk of speaker wire for a single piece. This does remind me though, there was a guy that actually believed that running 12-8 gauge wire for his remote line made his amp louder... Quote Need Test Tones/Sine Waves?
