Basic Subwoofer Box Question

I've been using Torres' Box calculater for the box imma build and had 1 question before i begin to build. I see on a lot of your boxes that there are extra flaps coming off the port walls at 90 degrees. should i add them? If you dont know what "flaps" im talking about then here's a box with and without them...

What is the purpose of these "flaps"

If your talking about the 45s I'n the cornors it's to help airflow and u gotta take into consideration the space u lose from them

if ur not talking about the 45's then ur probably talking about how the port takes a 90 degree turn. this is if you dont have enough space for you port to go straight down and still be tuned correctly so you make the 90 to have the correct port length
