  1. 1. Get a third sub?

    • Yes
    • No (if no, why not? please explain)

Getting more equipment seems more "all out" then simply building a new box...

Bassless once again. Can't seem to keep a system for more than a few weeks :)

Saving for a '06 Nissan 350z, look for build around June 2012.

If you have the space to go ported with the 2 10s, I would. But if not, I would definitely add another 10 sealed. If you have the space for it and the money, and plan to get one eventually regardless, there is no reason not to.

This is what makes sense to me.

just dont expect a big jump in output when you do this.

the only other downside is that in a year or two you have more of a change of damaging a sub and having to pay more in the long run. but at 1.5ohm there is less power to each woofer so maybe there is a smaller chance of damaging something. i dunno, its all up to you boss.

If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood.

A ported box wont fit under the backseat, unless I made a complete fiberglass bottom box to maximize airspace (only experience with glass was glassing the inside of a box so basically none) either that or modify my interior both are much more involved than building a little less than 1 cube sealed box and throwing a sub in it especially considering I already have the wood for a small box.

Im not expecting a huge difference, hoping it will be louder to the ear. As far as damaging something yeah the longer you use it of course the more chance you have but Ill cross that bridge if I come to it. Hopefully that wont happen and All I will have to do is get one more sub and upgrade electrical when the time comes for the bigger build

Id do a new, ported box man...I know your leaning the other way but, honestly a lot can happen in a year and a half. and a box with a glassed base is decently easy...good introduction to glassing IMO. Depending on when/if you wanted to do it, I may be able to help you out if your only over in fitchburg.

Im actually in townsend. Bout 35 mins from lowell. But my only dilemma with that is, Do I really want to spend all the money, time, and effort on making a glass bottom box that I am only going to use for a year and then the box will be no good junk. And I know its a good amount of time away but for the next build I want to be a little bit loud and I just really dont see it happening with these 2 10s with the power Im using just by going ported. Like I said Id like to up the power and run at least 3-4 10s If I decide to do 3 ported in the future build I would probably sell the 2200s and switch to an amp thats better suited to the power and ohm loads I would be looking for.

that is a good point man. buying a third would get you closer to your goal, but also like skittles said, you may not have a very noticeable difference. its a decent amount of time/effort building them (depending on finish, probably around 2-3 days) but if your like me, that plan for 3-4 10s may change within the next year too. its really up to you man, but don't hold yourself to only a few choices when its still a year away ya know. I planned on doing 2 12s on big power for my next build....this 15 sittin next to me says differently :pardon:

Yeah, I hear you. I know how it is, Ive been through my fair share of setups 12 to 2 10s to 15 to 2 12s to 3 12s 4 12s 2 15s 4 15s and now 2 10s But I have some actually nice equipment now, 2 aq 2200s only using 1 obviously but the other is sittin here waiting and you cant go wrong with dc subs. Also i do not plan on going very big anymore. When I get my next truck I plan on having a backseat thus my idea for the custom seat. I want to keep the seatback and just make a bench/box to house 3-4 10s ported and give them some decent clean power. I loved having the 4 15s it was loud as F*** (to me anyways) but i couldnt stand having no room I had an ext cab truck for nothing basically. But I didnt know there was anyone on here so close to me it would def be too to meetup at some point help eachother out on builds maybe or get some demos n stuff
