chrishova
Hello out there, I am getting my stuff together for this build with a SMD 15" and a SAZ3500D. I have the big 3, going to do a 2nd run of 0 gauge, and I have my alt. rebuilt to 220a. I found 3 Kinetic 16v batts for a good price. can I use the 12v posts as my bank until I get a better alt for 16v.? Is 3 too much, really? Thank yall!!! SR20DAZE
Cant because your alt runs at a lower voltage You can use them for a burp like at a comp and use a charger in between runs to give them the juice again Quote Hahah damn cody She ain't that sexy. Quin
I think maybe you could if you had a 16v charger and made regular checks to make sure the batts volts were fine

bre2ts
you need an alt that is capable of charging a 16v battery and stepdown coverters for your 12v system Quote Feedback 1 | Feedback 2 you win some, you lose some
chrishova
I saw a stepdown for $95, where does the stepdown go? Quote Pontiac Grand Prix GT400a Mean Machine alt. bre2ts
this is one of those situation where if you have to ask you're just not ready. do some research go to some shows and look how others run 16v systems. get their input. i do not think 16v systems are good for DD but thats just me Quote Feedback 1 | Feedback 2 you win some, you lose some
tonedeaf
You dont need stepdowns for the kinetics, as they have a separate 12v cell. Your problem is you have a rebuilt alt that cant charge at more than probably 15 volts, if that. A rebuilt alt is not the same thing as a high output alt, and cannot charge at more than 15.X volts. With the 16 volt batteries you need a true HO alt that can charge using a VCM.
