Also a suggestion I can add is when you clean up the port, sand the corners down like you took a router bit to it. Tuned to 40.5hz, my first box I decided to go with the manufacturer recommended tuning. As for the port, you mean basically flare it out? The length isn't everything you need the right amount of port area for proper tuning.
