Make sure you get two different types, one with the bearing on top, one with the bearing on bottom. Amazon sells them BTW. Not High Quality so to speak. I just got this stuff from Home Depot. It's just for the amp rack so I'm not 100% worried about the highest quality, but when I go for the enclosure build, I'll do that. What do you mean EZ mode? And I have a question on router bits. What is the difference between the 1/4" and 1/2" shanks? Is one better than the other for what reason? This build is so exciting Thanks man! Hope you enjoy! In our application, a 1/4" flush cut bit is more usable than a 1/2." The main example I could give of a 1/4" flush cut bit working where a 1/2" one would create a bigger gap would be a removable port. Trunk Build Log
scooter99 Posted November 8, 2011 Author Report Posted November 8, 2011 Ah, ok. Thanks guys! I just found one that has a 2" cutting surface on it, and is carbide tipped. I'm gonna look at that one. The thing I'd like to do, although it scares the shit out of me, is to find a way to use the amp as a cutting guide. I guess that wouldn't work though would it, cause I'd be on the outer side of where I want to be. Damn! Nevermind I guess. I just can't get a great straight cut with the jigsaw. I guess I could use a guide and straight edge or something, then just hand do the rounded edges. Maybe what i'll do, is use the foam board to make a template, then transfer that to MDF, and then use the MDF to do the ply. I'll figure something out. scooter99 Posted November 8, 2011 Author Report Posted November 8, 2011 Wow, thanks for the compliment. I'll tell you this though, a lot my "skills" come from experience and trial and error. I used to be in construction and a 3rd generation contractor, so wood working is kind of up my alley. But I've done and re done so many things, cause the more you work with your hands the more you realize different ways and techniques and in the end, it makes for a good product. Besides that I have ocd and perfectionist issues, so i have to make it perfect in my eyes or I'll no doubt redo it later anyway! Maybe too much info, how bout just "thank you"! Sorry!
