RooTxBeeR
So I took a old hard drive I had, plugged it into the slave driver of the HDD cords. When it's not plugged in, everything runs fine. Once I plug in the extra HD into the slave drive, the computer just wont work and neither of the 2 show up as selecteable boot devices. Even in the set up menu it says some wierd as "Wrdx SFhsyf5qw3" as the Pri master. TheyDontWantMusic
are the drives set to master and slave with the jumpers on the end of the drive?
RooTxBeeR
Yes, the original HD has the cable labeled master to it, with the one I put in there as slave. RooTxBeeR
I don't think so then, can you refer to where the "jumpers" would be Quote On 11/20/2012 at 8:54 PM, AMI CUSTOMS said: Turned mine up today at a light, guy next to me his steering wheel started moving and he looked over at me like I was a magician lol. TheyDontWantMusic
I don't think so then, can you refer to where the "jumpers" would be the end of the drives, next to where the IDE cables plug in. if the cable is just a straight ribbon cable, then its not setting master and slave, but I believe some cables had about 10 conductors twisted between the master and slave connectors, to change the second drive to slave... but I haven't seen that for ages! MrBalll
They are on the back of the HDD. There should be a diagram on the HDD to tell you how to set them.

TheyDontWantMusic
and this page seems to pretty clearly explain why cable select doesn't work. http://www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/if/ide/confCS-c.html
