Experience With Zapco Symbilink?

Recommended Posts

The Symbilink will get rid of all induced noise resulting in the cleanest signal you'll receive; they are balanced signals. relatively smaller cable as well compared to an rca; so less space to take up. there is no disadvantage to it other than it will cost more.

meade you actually do have a choice. there are 2 ways to hook up amp. you can either just use the simple rca to din transmitter or the actual symbilink processor to convert it to true symbilink form..

i am using just the transmitter

yes in the end you are still using the DIN connection but there is a difference in signal. i believe the transmiiter just keeps it balanced.

if i am wrong please tell me, cause i am goin off of what i have read on the internet...

im pretty sure its still symblink bro....i mean at SOME point it has to be turned from RCA to balanced whether its from the deck or from a processor. You may be thinking of the SLBU or something like that. Either way ive used both SLBU and the transmitter you showed in the pic and i like the transmitter better. Its more installer friendly and much smaller. I didnt notice any difference in sound, they sound fine...if there is something different then im not aware of it im not an expert. I have experience in more then one install with these, but no expert. Not enough people can afford zapco for me to get that good. I would say IMHO these amps arent for rookie installers though, its not a simple pos/neg/remote/rca....they HAD to make it complicated :D

Yup, the newer like (2001 and up) finally had RCA's, back in the days Zapco had preamp crossovers and Eq's running on 14 or was it 16v? You had to eithet use their setup or buy a seperate power supply. It was more then just RCA adapter hook up! It did it all +14v gnd signal all on one cable.(talkin 90's with zap boards and all dat). It was good stuff, if u used all zapco. In time they had to figure it just hurt sales and got standard! So don't think it was some RCA adapters and u were done.....

I was hired at Auto Radio Stereo out in Arden, i worked there for about 6 months, we used the Symbilinks, but the thing is, back THEN, they would die out after about 6 months, great before they die, but, you would just hear a staticy bad connection sound. That was back in 2002-2003, Iam sure there has been improvements since then

But yeah, good investment

I think, what, extra $100??

I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.

Thanks for the replies guys, im definitely going to run this.

Which headunit do you think would better compliment the SymbiLink?

Eclipse CD3100 or the Kenwood Excelon KDC-X891?

Btw, come check out my full system plans and give me your two cents if you have time: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...showtopic=11447

I dont see anything wrong with it, but maybe there is a better distro block, or a different battery setup, or a personal preference, I want to hear it.

Thanks.
