Grelko
Full size van displacement volume "inches" 108L - 50H - 70W = (378,000 cubic inches)..oh what fun I've heard that you would need to displace around 1/20th of the total volume to reach 150-155Db or so That would make it 18,900 cubic inches. trying to figure out how much cone/port area total that i would need, but my brain fried after seeing almost 400k cubic inches anyone able to figure this problem out? thinking 12x 12s at 3k watt "1500 rms" each, no idea on power yet Optimus XL-400w amp 2x 10s IMPP 400w 2x something or other in dash 2x 35w radioshack 8" full-range AcDelco factory radio "frankenstein'd from my dead buick" Dodge seats 1984 Chevy G30 full size 1-ton van "Rust Monster" Progress - around 15% primer/patching Sold the van in 2014, had it about 75% done, never did get the system in it. iKidwell
Well first, divide by 1728 so it's in cubic feet. c'mon now, if i was shooting an 8 year old, it wouldnt be MY 8 year old. i recently got a Pyle PL1590BL and i was building an enclosure for it tuned to 25 hz. i didn't have any tools to cut a circle so i hit it with a big hammer. 2003 Infiniti G35 Sport Sedan Build in Progress
skittlesRgood
there is no specific amount of cone area you need to get past 150db. if you want to be sure to get close to 155db, put four bad ass 18"s on 3kw each. should do the trick. it mostly comes down to your box but if you dont get past 153db with that setup, your box sucks lol. If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. Grelko
Hoping to be 2 boxes with 6x 12s "3k watt 1500rms" through each speaker" box sizes would be right around 30x38x20 hoping for plenty of port space getting boxes custom 1 on each wall with hinges so they can swing out and lock together to make a full wall. trying to go for SPL comps, car cruises etc do tricks with the big sliding door open. gotta move a TON of air Optimus XL-400w amp 2x 10s IMPP 400w 2x something or other in dash 2x 35w radioshack 8" full-range AcDelco factory radio "frankenstein'd from my dead buick" Dodge seats 1984 Chevy G30 full size 1-ton van "Rust Monster" Progress - around 15% primer/patching Sold the van in 2014, had it about 75% done, never did get the system in it. Grelko
Had an estimate of 6400 for an alpine/clarion setup dealer said it "should" hit around 160db with the custom boxes he was going to make for me..doubtful with so much area to move but, budget is way below that any ideas on cheaper brands for that kind of Spl setup? really didnt want to try any Boss or soundstorm, thinking Quantum figure around $150 per speaker "$1800 total" and $1700 to power it, first actual big setup for the van.
