Four Memphis M3's & a T2500-1bd Build Log

Recommended Posts

It's fluctuating while you have subs hooked up?

I wouldn't worry about that amp being a little warm, my RF T1500 get pretty warm.

It fluctuates while It is playing a solid tone. It will go from say anywhere between 2 and 30ohms.

I know it usually fluctuates a small bit, but that is a LOT of fluctuation. I cant even tune the amp because it fluctuates so much, as soon as I turn the gain up a bit it'll clip. Because of the difference in OHM loads I would assume.

Anybody got any ideas :peepwall:

Grr, it is noticably less loud than the other Power Acoustik amp ( which was tuned right )

But for some reason I cant figure out why i cant get the ohms to be steady on the same tone.

I HIGHLY doubt it is box rise. that bad... theres just no way, its the same size as my old box.

Another member told me the wires from the outside of the speaker box to the amp could be a little small, even though its all wired with 12ga. He said I should up them to as big as I could. Honestly I dont REALLY think thats the cause.. But I am gonna do it anyways tomorrow just to see if it fixes it.

But what do you guys think it could be? I need some opinions, I cant figure it out for my life...

Im almost positive that its not a blown coil or teminal mainly because it stays at a steady 2.2ohms when its not hooks up to the amp. I will probably make a video tomorrow to show you guys whats happening. But the problem is I use my iPhone for a camera. I will figure it out with a different iPhone 4

Anyways, Bump because I need you guys opinions!

Hmmm, Might have figured it out, after checking the output voltage on the sub on the RCA, its reading .6v

Plugged that into the PAC-LC1 that I have and checked ITS output, it reads .1v HMMM

I checked it a few times, and it looks like thats the issue....

HMM. I will be looking into a new one tomorrow, and go on the hunt, for it. If I cant find one, i'll order another off Sonixelectronix...

We will see.

Thanks to FennyGolf for telling me to check that!

Just checked the RCA voltages again... and it looks like I was wrong last night I am getting the same voltage, but the voltage seems really low.

With the head unit at 30 out of 40 it puts out .6v to the subwoofer output. Just to test it, i cranked it since everything was unplugged and at 40 out of 40 it puts out 4v from the subwoofer output. But I am sure that is fully clipped.

30 isn't clipped at all.

So checked the output with it at 30 and got .6 directly from it. I then plugged it into the PAC-LC1 and checked its output. again I got .6v. I then checked the RCAs that plug into the amp.

Once again I got .6v there. so now all RCAs are reading .6v

So I am back to being stumped. The amp will only put out about 30v on a 40db 0hz tone before it starts to clip.

What am I missing? Could it be Autruche's tone?

Somebody help me out! D:

EDIT: Just opened the tone in Audacity to check if it was clipped...

Doesnt't look clipped to me. D:

Just about all amps get warm when powered on

looks like you have really shitty RCAs too, recheck how you ran them. Second if you have your DMM setup to read ohms and put power to the subs, its not going to read correctly. You could end up ruining your multimeter too.

Got it fixed. Going to buy new RCAs though when I get some money, also going to pick up a new headunit.

Something a bit better than the Boss BV9976

Any recommendations?

DEMO VIDS COMING AS SOON AS THEY UPLOAD!

Well guys, there it is. I am proud of it. I think it turned out good. Over the next few days I will be tweaking a few things, shortening up wires, maybe looking for a better battery ground, hiding wires, carpeting the box, covering the fuse holder, etc etc. its a long list. but just minor things but now I am not in a rush.

I wanna know what you guys think, the iPhone videos don't do it justice. But thats all I got. Sorry guys D:

:drinks::drinks: :drinks:

3 cheers to a successful build with only a few minors issues only the way!
