alan wilson Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 has anyone seen the RE Audio XT4000DE V3 amp in action before? dont get me wrong the specs look very intresting and i know RE audio make kickass subs but i havent heard much about there amps before and audiosavings have them heaverly discounted at $199.95 which has got me thinking otherwise.
bcpballer64 Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 I have never seen it in action but it has 90 amps wirth of fusing. power=current*voltage so at 14.4 volts the most that amp could put out would be 1296 watts. bcpballer64 Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 To the OP if you are looking for a cheap amp bascially look at the pics or the spec sheet and multiple the fusing in the amp by 14.4 and that will give you a reasonable idea what the amp could do. Like the amp i just got, its a Power Acoutik "4000 watt" amp but it has 120 amps worth of fusing which makes it capable of 1700 watts give or take, and i only need 1200 so its all good. kirill007 Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 It's easier to multiplie by 12 because a amp is not 100% efficient and most people won't stay at 14.4v all the time. SO 90*12=1080 and for the PA amp 120*12=1440watts. And that is maximum RMS watts, you won't get that much out of the amp.(but still above the 1200w you need) Thinking is the root of all problems... You ALWAYS get what you pay for.
STEvil Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 Should multiply by an efficiency number like 70-80% as well.. 90*12*.8= 864w 90*14.4*.8= 1036.8w Of course most fuses can handle overdraw for a bit, but they will blow if in that situation eventually. So if you blow your fuses you know you're doing a bit more than what those calculations give. If you dont, then you're probably under.. Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it.
