Ported box question for 2 kicker cvx 10s

Recommended Posts

so i have 2 kicker cvx 10s and im trying to decide on which ported box. according to kicker specs for best sq i need 1.75ft3 per sub but the box im looking at has 2ft3 per sub. how will it affect the tuning frequency? or is it too much volume? or should i say f it and go sealed? help please :)

edit: if it helps, i have a ss rubicon 1600

Most people on here are going to tell you to build a custom box (which would be optimal). But what you're looking at will be fine. Just don't overpower the subs

Edit: Those subs also like bigger boxes than kicker recommends. Or at least the L7's do, so I figure the CVX's are probably the same.

I actually ran a CVX 10" in 2.25ish ft^3 at 38hz after playing around with it in BBP6 for a while. It performed REALLY well with about 600 watts RMS. Got loud, low F3, and seemed to love the larger box.

You should be fine, just don't go crazy with power.

thanks for the help and responses. i plan on running them at 2 ohms and 1100W rms

Per sub or between the pair? If that is per sub you may want to go with a slightly smaller box.

L7's and CVX's do like larger boxes. 3-4ft^3 at ~35hz for the pair should work well in most cases, so long as you're not trying to run more than rated power to it.
