Lets say you've misplaced your phone somewhere in your house. Its on silent.

Send a "where's my droid" message to your phone and it will ring like if someone is calling you.

That said, you may also want to look into creating a google voice account. It gives you a different number and you can send (free) text messages from it. Doesn't work with things like Twitter where the number is short though. With a few workarounds, you can also turn your 3G iPad into a very unreliable mobile phone lol.

Google voice can also act as a hella robust voicemail service.

got my texts fixed, since its a buisness acct im on, the texting got taken off when i switched, spent the last hour at at&t getting is back activated lol
