solosickness Posted August 12, 2011 Report Share Posted August 12, 2011 Alright so I was fiberglass resin'ing my enclosure that will be powered by a kicker WarHorse, and its a port firing into a horn on a 90 degree angle. I was in the middle of tipping the box in different angles too cover the box and slipped n dropped the box and all the resin fell into the corner making a really perfect 45. heres the box... I heard 45s in an enclosure usually only help when on a corner with alot of pressure. If i tip the box and pour the resin in the corner were the Port fires into the horn, too perfectly make about a 1" 45 in the port. Well atfirst i thought this was a GREAT idea, But then would it make my box less efficient by firing the air directly out the horn in a streight line? Cuz im assuming the Physics of it is too Bounce the waves on the walls of the horn. So THE QUESTION IS... Will the 45 cancel out the Physics of the horn? Or increase it by stopping standing waves in that corner, that im sure are just cycloning in a circle. What do you think? Well I am really hoping it will but i wanna make sure! I had the box tested out in the back of my brother in law's ford ranger "in the bed, facing the back bumper". On 1k rms and it sounded LOUDER than my 4k rms amp on it. BUT with major voltage drop, and box flex, and a crappy design "too much port area", and 2 small of speaker wire "10 gauge" my new box has 4 gauge 4 more powah floW like mo jo joJO! Uploaded with ImageShack.us It hit EVERYTHING! FROM 33-55HZ!!! IT blew me away on bandwidth! My old box only hit good on 35-39 or so hertz. I am very pleased!
