dereileak
You need to take away any bracing, ports, and sub displacements from your GROSS volume number. Net is what you are left with after all dispacements. Basic math/physics terms. *Edit-I didn't mean to sound like a dick. I was trying to get you straightened out that's all. Sorry for being blunt and I hope you get it figured out. If it were me, I'd just close the box up and make it sealed and see if you like it. im thinking of trying that cause if I do port it, im going to do a 100% external port on it, subs are gonna be external, with the cones pointing in, and bracing wont remove much space really, btw thanks 2006 Mazda3 Hatchback Black 5 Spd ManualPioneer 4300DVD2 Sundown SA-12 (34hz Tune, 3.22 cubes, 14.5 inches per cube, Triple Baffle)Kicker 10ZX2500.1 (2845 RMS) Sub AmpKicker 11ZX650.4 (705 RMS) Mid Amp -- (3 Amps)Kicker KQ3 Active CrossoverKicker KQ30 EqualizerKicker 09QS60.2 Components (Woven Carbon Cones)Kicker 09QS65.2 Components (Woven Carbon Cones) - (3 Sets)2/0 Gauge Electron Beam Technologies (3 Runs, 2 +, 1 -) 1/0 Gauge KNU Kollasal Flex (1 Run for -) 300 Ft Kicker X-Series 16 Gauge Speaker WireXS Power D3400 (Rear)XS Power D3100 (Front)Singer Externally Regulated Alternator (Being Built)+ The Love for Car Audio and BASS <3UBL Build Log <------- Click Here-------> Normal Build Log (For Comments)

I am Poncho
alright sir this is what i got, so far its the way i would go with salvaging what you have and still being able to see out your rear window. if only just. well from your pics i see that you have what looks like 5 inches above where your box tops out now to the top of the head rests. so that is what i went by... so i figured a little over 60^in should be good enough port area but if you or anyone else know/thinks otherwise its simple to modify this. so if you were to construct out of 3/4 mdf a port 5 in tall by 16.25 deep(that should be as deep as the top of your box already is) inside youll have port area of 4.25x14.75, okay so then the port would have to be 25 in long to get about 30hz tuning freq. almost forgot.. you only need one sheet 25x16.25 that'll be the top most piece cause you already have the bottom which is the top right now. just cut a the proper size hole in the top and add the port onto whats already there. so this would require you to mount your subs on the rear of the box. which seems like you have a ton of space for anyway. now what do you all think?? edit: oh and your box net will still be over 6 cubic ft before bracing OLD BUILD LOG: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/166273-poncho-designs-trailblazer/ New car, new build coming soon... DudeWith4x4
Lol I was just gonna suggest making the port a armrest for the backseats if thats possible in your car. Wrap in materail that matchs your seats and that would be bad ass imo. -Ross Project Layla Truck: 99' F-150 Gathering things for my next build. EDIT: btw all wood is 3/4" Im wondering if you could design one with the subs on top, inverted, cause thats how I want to do it, then have the port come out the middle back of the box over the battery, coming up and over the top pointing towards the front of the vehicle, thats how I want to build it, ill sketch up something, the main thing is I need to leave room to mount a 2500.1 in the back where I where I am building another amp rack Thats how I wanna Desgin it, with the port shooting up the front gotta make sure it clears that amp rack, like 6 inches deep would be fine, I would love ya for that 33hz a good tuning frequency for lows? 2006 Mazda3 Hatchback Black 5 Spd ManualPioneer 4300DVD2 Sundown SA-12 (34hz Tune, 3.22 cubes, 14.5 inches per cube, Triple Baffle)Kicker 10ZX2500.1 (2845 RMS) Sub AmpKicker 11ZX650.4 (705 RMS) Mid Amp -- (3 Amps)Kicker KQ3 Active CrossoverKicker KQ30 EqualizerKicker 09QS60.2 Components (Woven Carbon Cones)Kicker 09QS65.2 Components (Woven Carbon Cones) - (3 Sets)2/0 Gauge Electron Beam Technologies (3 Runs, 2 +, 1 -) 1/0 Gauge KNU Kollasal Flex (1 Run for -) 300 Ft Kicker X-Series 16 Gauge Speaker WireXS Power D3400 (Rear)XS Power D3100 (Front)Singer Externally Regulated Alternator (Being Built)+ The Love for Car Audio and BASS <3UBL Build Log <------- Click Here-------> Normal Build Log (For Comments)
