Posted these in the Member Video's section, but thought I'd add them here too ;)

Hi All,

For those of you following our rebuild I thought I'd put up some videos from our first show. This thing is by no means finished yet, but it is making noise and already tearing itself apart and breaking things!!!

Hope you like them...

Hi All,

We're going to take a couple weeks off from anything major on this build and attend a few shows... Mid Feb should see us back on it with some much needed Bracing and other reinforcements. Right now one of the biggest challenges is the port ripping itself apart, so lots of work to be done there.

More vids soon though ;)

Hi mtopper,

Glad you're liking our attempt to play witht he BIG Boys LOL!!!

The new generation of Phoenix Gold is really starting to take off under AAMP of America (Stinger) and I know the boys are expanding their Dealer network daily. With that said there are no current dealers directly in Detroit, but the boys did send through this link:

Quick project update - but sadly no pictures :(

Yet another day of breaking things at Day on the Track last weekend.

During the week we had taken some time to clean up the wiring of the bottom rear doors where the 4ch amps and processors are stored. The boys cleaned up all the wiring, installed the new RCA splitters. We decided to get rid of the RCA Splitter boxes, since we kept breaking the solder joints in them during the big bass notes. While cleaning up we decided to mount the MATRIX line driver and the Alpine Processor (PXA-H100) onto the side of the box along with the SD500.4 amplifiers. All wiring was tidied up and cable-tied.

During our first song we started loosing output channels, then we got a massive ground loop noise. After a lot of hunting we found we had broken something inside the MATRIX but luckily we were able to get this by-passed and atleast have the rears and subs working 'sort-of'

Once we got home we found that not only had we broken the MATRIX, but we had also somehow detached one of the circuitboards inside the Alpine Processor!!! This wouls explain a lot of the problems and noise issues we had. So once again we have re-wired and re-located items in the bottom doors and so far everything 'seems' to be working OK.

As for NEW work, Brent at Autobarn Eltham has started on the internal Steel bracing for the box, using 40x40mm steel tube with 4mm thick walls! This should help some of our strength issues!

This weekend we're also finally starting to build the port, at the moment the temp port / opening we have installed tunes the Astra to 43-44Hz on paper) the new port should bring this back down to a more reasonable 33-35Hz tuning. Time will tell what difference this will make, but at the very least it will strengthen the port so it doesn't flex 15-20mm like it is currently...

Ahh the Fun and Joys of building GroundPounders!!!

Pics and updates coming soon!!

Hi All,

Once again it's been quite awhile since our last update, so I thought it might be time to let you all in on what we've been up to in the last 6 months.

Basically what's been happening is that the car has been breaking itself apart, we have now fixed various things about 6 times. The box itself is tearing itself apart, cracking the baffles apart and the rear wall (nearly 2" thick of plywood) was flexing about 3/4 of an inch, theis in turn ended up breaking our amplifier rack a number of times. We broke a windshield, and tore the sheet metal mounting flange off of the car.

To sum up, basically every show that we attended we ended up breaking something fairly major and needed to spend a couple weekends fixing it.

Just so you know at that point we were doing about mid 156dB at 36Hz on music.

From there we had the roof repaired and a stripper pole installed. This brought us up into the Mid 158's still around 36-37Hz on music, but the box kept breaking.

So we decided to add more bracing, the box was already braced internally every 12", but we decided to add more 2x4' to brace it every 6"
