HELP - Subs not loud

Recommended Posts

Wiring it to 1ohm defiantly makes it a bit better as well. I'm about to cut my port holes bigger and put in the 4" pipes, for now it's PVC pipe until I GE the correct tuning, I got 45degree elbow aswell incase the ports are going to be too long for my box, any ideas on what's the best port length for my setup? I was think 36cm long but not sure if it's right, will have to convert to inches.

If you have the same box dimensions as last time, 1 4" port at 16" long will give ya 9.30 sq in of port per cube and tune ya to 36hz that is your best bet so far.

Edit: The dim. are from the link with torres pic

i would also try different position for the sub box, look like in you pic you have them faced forward, i would also try facing them towards the back .

i love this sh--t man 1966 Ford Fairlane Pioneer prs 80, the big three, with 2 big azz agm batts, dual 270/200 amp alts , two 8'' mids and tweets in the kick( PPI phantom 600.2). two 10''s and tweets in the doors, two 10'' mids and tweets in the rear decK ( Lanar opti 500x2). 2 C2 Audio Threatcon 4 12s on a Crunch GP3000d. Sorry if this is a stupid but what does the port area do or make a difference with? Also what would e the difference between tuning to 36hz or 32hz?

Port area has to do with the air flow. The right port area cools the subs correctly, thats where your subs should sound the best, ect. The right box design is key.

The lower the freq. or hz means the lower the bass/subs will play

That makes sense, prob why I can smell the coils heating up, the guy at our sound dealer said it's because they are new. If I tune to 36hz will I still get nice lows? Why not tune to 32hz? Just curious, I was reading on another post about radio clipping and think I have set my head unit nicely nowith the gains on my amp, wish I could get a DD-1 they are talking about on the forums. How much are they and were can we buy them?

The smell of coils can also be from clipping (aka not having your amp set up right), which could also be another reason it doesn't sound right and will eventually blow your subs.

Edit: His point is true about cooling, BUT the smell is not because they aren't ported correctly and therefore not cooled correctly. If this were true, then sealed boxes would be a horrible idea, right?

Basically, cooling from port is an added bonus?!?!?

Unless I'm missing something. Heck I'm always learning too lol

no... just no...

Port area doesnt have to do with air flow? The right box design is not key?

The right port area isnt where the subs will sound best?

The cooling thing i said may not be 100% accurate but wtf? No... Just no? Wtf help the dude out, dont be a jackass
