superdave07 Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 Ok, Heres me problem. In my daily driver (95 integra) This only happens some times. But when im at or near full tilt, my amp will shut off. Only seems to happen during higher freq. notes. Voltage does not drop below 13.0 volts. Its a db drive platinum 2000.1d wired at 1ohm before rise. Ive had this amp at .33 before with not trouble at all. The amp has not had a lot of tuning with this set up. But gain is at about 30% and the rest should be pretty close. Head unit is an Alpine IVA-W200. Anyways, maybe im overlooking something here but i cant seem to figure it out? Any ideas? something to try? Someone please throw me a bone lol FYI subs are 2 DC lvl3 15s, dual 4ohm. Not dropping voltage, not getting hot. turn it off, wait five seconds, it will come back on. I mean it may just be that my setting are not close at all. But Ive had this set up in the car for a few weeks and not had any issues until a few days ago. I thought maybe it was just the temp outside? but all three times this has happened it was at night. And maybe 80 outside... kickass audio Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 Sorry if you or anyone considers this a post dump. This may be the amp shutting off from a overload. I had that before on my one amp and it was wired at a load twice than the lowest imp load it was made to handle but when a really high note hit it went into protect for a second and came back. Mine would keep cutting in and out at high bass notes. IDK what it was but i got a new amp and it never happened again but i measured the current it was drawing and it was more than the amp was made to draw for some reason. Another thing to check would be your impedance of your subs to make sure they are fine. I also had a sub where i busted the wire apart on one coil but it kept playing. If i had a song with a lot of excursion the loose voice coil wire would short out and make the amp protect and them come back when i turned it off and back on.
