chrishova Posted August 25, 2011 Author Report Posted August 25, 2011 I have a 15" SMD on a SAZ3500D in a 4 cu. ft. box 3.5net after port tuned to 29htz.. I like it, but I need to make another stronger box with more, stronger screws and stronger caulk, so I was wondering if anybody has or had a better formula for a SMD. I only have about 4 cubes net. It is a daily, but I obliviously don't mind the banging! (I did try to search before I made this post, no luck) THANK YALL!!! for only 15 bucks nd acouple of simple questions ray can give you a nice box design Torres? Yea, I had this sound before and took the box apart and saw screws broken in half. audioanonymous Makes theese! He's a member here , tell him I sent ya! chrishova Posted August 28, 2011 Author Report Posted August 28, 2011 The AA website says 2-4 cu. ft., I have a 4 cu ft. box 3.5 net with port tuned to 29htz., all the SMD's I have seen look like they are in smaller boxes, I like mine, but I gotta redo it anyway, I got a little water on a corner (Thanks, Irene). Its in 4 cubes tuned to 31 hertz (the sketchup file is on my desktop comp back in the states) so I don't recall how much port area. Its only seeing about 2k at 4ohm from an AP30001d and it does hairtricks like cake (should do a lot better on a DC 5k ). Sub forward port forward and completely sealed off from the trunk. And I'm running my SAZ3500D at 2 ohms so I got about 1800+ watts! Port forward, sub forward also... I do like it! but almost all other pics of this sub looks like its been in a smaller box... And how do you plan to wire down to 1ohm if your wired at 2ohm right now? Bassless once again. Can't seem to keep a system for more than a few weeks Saving for a '06 Nissan 350z, look for build around June 2012.
chrishova Posted August 31, 2011 Author Report Posted August 31, 2011 I have a SAZ3500D and 4 wires going from the amp to the speaker (SMD D2), 1 from each pos on the amp to each pos terminal on the speaker, and the same with the negs. I asked around and a few people said it would be 1 ohm, so I clamped the one pos and it was 980watts and came to 4 ohms, so I figured 1800+ at 2 ohms. I only found 10 gauge wire to run as speaker wires. I will try to reclamp it again... This is working for right now because I am waiting on a bigger alt., but my rebuilt alt holds it to no lower than 13v.! (WITHOUT THE VOLT BOOSTER! I took it off because I saw somewhere the XS batts shouldn't charge higher than 14.4). And I my sub IS breaking in, getting louder everyday!
