onyx1silverado Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 So I have a Nissan cube and decided to upgrade the speakers. It has spots in the A pillars for tweeters so i got components and I went with Alpine type s because they sounded good at the store ran off the same hu as mine (pioneer p4200 dvd). In the back I went with the coax versions and they are down in the bottom of the doors as well. First problem I notice is they are a lot more quiet than the stock ones (i think it's because the stock are 2 ohm). 2nd is the tweeter is so harsh sounding. So I am gonna scrap that idea and go with the Focal Access 165 A1's because it has tweeter adjustments at +3, 0, -6 and I think that will help and in the back i will use the coax versions as well. Really I'm looking for opinions about the Focals for my situation. CleanSierra Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 My type R components had an adjustment on the crossover to quiet them down a bit. Do the type s x-overs not have the same? Quote Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
onyx1silverado Posted August 30, 2011 Author Report Posted August 30, 2011 No, mine just have an in line crossover. basically the same set up as a coax speaker. not fancy at all. onyx1silverado Posted August 30, 2011 Author Report Posted August 30, 2011 I'm also thinking about powering them with the Rockford boosted rail amp. Has anyone else used this amp yet? onyx1silverado Posted August 30, 2011 Author Report Posted August 30, 2011 But do you think focal are worth the money Quote Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD Rockford Fosgate T5001 bd-cp 2 DC level 2 12's Focal Access Components in the front Focal Access Coax in the rear doors Rockford Fosgate Punch Boosted Rail 4 channel rms 4x75 XS Power D3400 under the hood Knuconceptz Ultra Fleks Power & Ground
AI James Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 focal speakers in general are great speakers, im not into the access line but their other lines are nice speakers Quote
acarolan Posted September 5, 2011 Report Posted September 5, 2011 i have the K2 power 165 krx2, they don't hit the lows too well (maybe if i had better enclosures, i mean they're in an '85) but the highs are SO SEXY. if you want focals but don't want to spend 200% of your life savings, i'd go with the polyglass series, i have the 6x9s in the rear and i was running those only for a while and they take power like beasts and they alone gave me some flex ahaha #ilovethemsomuch Quote
