tonedeaf Posted September 4, 2011 Report Posted September 4, 2011 Few on this site seem to know what SQ is. SQ isnt 'hey that sounds good'. SQ is about imaging and recreating the sound like it sounded on stage when being recorded. You can pick out where the drums are setup or where the guitar is playing. You can hear when the trumpet walks across the stage or when the drums are moved from one song to another. Theres a HUGE difference between a true SQ setup and being stupid loud and it doesnt sound like shit. Most people who put these threads up have no idea what SQ really is and think that their 4 18s in a wall with 2 $100 6.5 coaxial kickers will do the job. A true SQ setups is normally a couple 10s or 12s with the front stage being the main focus. Doesnt mean thats what its limited to, just know how big the difference is please. I also hope you really know what kind of electrical you'll need for that supposed 20k watts RMS. You're probably looking at atleast $5k+ in electrical alone.
Audio-Concepts Posted September 4, 2011 Report Posted September 4, 2011 ^^^^ exactly my point tone! Thats why I stated he should change his title, gets rid of the back n forth bullshit, and now hopefully stay on target with what he wants to accomplish! I can honestly say from experience, IDMAX can get loud, you throw multiples of that with the good clean power in say a 4th order, the efficiency of a sealed plus the loudness of a ported and you have a winning combination! Audio-Concepts Posted September 4, 2011 Report Posted September 4, 2011 Look into SSA, they are a SQ based company that have power hungry subs! Yeah SQ is in a realm all its own, my old SQ car I had about 10k in equipment, and it only hit mid 140's. Im hoping my new setup will be in the SQL genre!
