OrionStang Posted September 5, 2011 Report Posted September 5, 2011 Finally checked my voltage today. This morning, idle voltage was only 14.1 with the car cool. This afternoon, idle voltage is 13.8-13.9, car hot. I would think that is bad, right? But drop is very good. Playing music full tilt, lights, fogs, full a/c, and defroster all on, the lowest it dropped was to 13.0. So is it bad that idle voltage is low, even though there is very little drop under load? KnockinthaStreetzof608 Posted September 5, 2011 Report Posted September 5, 2011 same thing in my mustang i believe its because our car is ecu controlled and its not goin give you any extra voltage all high if it doesnt have a load for use it own idk i wordered it werid does that make sense? tonedeaf Posted September 5, 2011 Report Posted September 5, 2011 Your mustang is controlled by the PCU I think, the computer tells it how high to charge. Only way I believe you can fix it is getting your computer flashed and it set higher, as I dont believe a VCM changes the problem since it doesnt bypass the computer. Quote
OrionStang Posted September 5, 2011 Author Report Posted September 5, 2011 Well, thats probably it. I know there's no VCM option for this car. There is no voltage option on my flash tuner, so that won't help. Oh well, as long as i'm staying above 13 volts full tilt, I guess I can't complain. Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
tonedeaf Posted September 5, 2011 Report Posted September 5, 2011 True. Getting it flashed professionally by a shop should let you adjust it, as it can adjust idle for example and so many other things...but im not positive. Supposedly mechman is working on a fix for the issue though that will be P&P IIRC. Quote

OrionStang Posted September 6, 2011 Author Report Posted September 6, 2011 Ok, so here's a twist. I thought it was my car not allowing charging over 13.8, WRONG. Yesterday it was charging at 14, and today its charging at 14.2. Checked at the amp, front battery, and rear bank, all the same voltage. I would understand if it is cooler voltage may go up. But, it is a lot hotter today and the voltage is up. Still above 13 full tilt. I'm stumped. Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
AA98hoe Posted September 6, 2011 Report Posted September 6, 2011 Hmm could be batteries are a lil low so computer is telling it to charge at a higher voltage. I'm not sure what the regulator reads from and how it changes its charging rate.
