Bigballa39213
Yes. The lower the resistance the more current draw plus higher rail voltage then more heat and shorter life for your amp. 98 Chevy Blazer 4 Door Stock Everything The New Setup 1 - Pioneer AVH-P5200DVD 1- Pioneer DEH-80PRS 2 - Blues Audio 5.25 Mids ( On the dash ) 2 - Blues Audio BL8.0C Components ( In the front doors ) 2 - Blues Audio BL8.0 Woofers ( In the rear doors ) 1 - Linear Power 952 ( Dash ) 1 - Linear Power 2202IQ Modified ( Components ) 1 - Linear Power 3002 ( Rear Doors ) 1 - SoundStream XBP-10 Processor 1 - SoundStream BX-20Z 2 - SoundStream DTR1.3400D 4 - RE Audio SX12D4
ryan916
When you guys say it is more efficient. What do u mean? I see such inconsistent answers, who knows for sure and why? I just want to be able to understand it so if someone were to ask me about it I could explain it.
bassrace
Yes. The lower the resistance the more current draw plus higher rail voltage then more heat and shorter life for your amp. Exactly what I thought c-fizzy said it wasnt true, and I dont know enough on the subject to debate it. Bigballa39213
Now we have to judge this on a per amp basis. Let's say the AQ2200 is rated at 2200 Watts rms @ 1 ohm and draws 200 amps then at .5 ohms it should draw around 250 amps and put out around 2500 watts. 98 Chevy Blazer 4 Door Stock Everything The New Setup 1 - Pioneer AVH-P5200DVD 1- Pioneer DEH-80PRS 2 - Blues Audio 5.25 Mids ( On the dash ) 2 - Blues Audio BL8.0C Components ( In the front doors ) 2 - Blues Audio BL8.0 Woofers ( In the rear doors ) 1 - Linear Power 952 ( Dash ) 1 - Linear Power 2202IQ Modified ( Components ) 1 - Linear Power 3002 ( Rear Doors ) 1 - SoundStream XBP-10 Processor 1 - SoundStream BX-20Z 2 - SoundStream DTR1.3400D 4 - RE Audio SX12D4
C-Fizzy
Just because you wire an amp at .5 ohms doesn't mean you're pulling 500000000 amps. under construction I hate People with crappy primered cars rolling on hubcaps that are louder then me. u hate c-fizzy? C-Fizzy
Think about it this way, my aq3500.1 is rated to pull 380 amps at 1 ohm. If I have the gained turned up a sliver, do you think it's going to pull 380 amps? No. under construction I hate People with crappy primered cars rolling on hubcaps that are louder then me. u hate c-fizzy?

If I have the gained turned up a sliver, do you think it's going to pull 380 amps? No. And you never changed the ohm load. 98 Chevy Blazer 4 Door Stock Everything The New Setup 1 - Pioneer AVH-P5200DVD 1- Pioneer DEH-80PRS 2 - Blues Audio 5.25 Mids ( On the dash ) 2 - Blues Audio BL8.0C Components ( In the front doors ) 2 - Blues Audio BL8.0 Woofers ( In the rear doors ) 1 - Linear Power 952 ( Dash ) 1 - Linear Power 2202IQ Modified ( Components ) 1 - Linear Power 3002 ( Rear Doors ) 1 - SoundStream XBP-10 Processor 1 - SoundStream BX-20Z 2 - SoundStream DTR1.3400D 4 - RE Audio SX12D4
C-Fizzy
Ya. If you turn the gain up. But if the gain is turned down, it won't pull 380 amps. So just because it's wired at 1 ohm, doesn't mean it'll pull 380 amps. Like everything else in car audio, there are multiple variables. under construction I hate People with crappy primered cars rolling on hubcaps that are louder then me. u hate c-fizzy?
