Moment of Silence
ryan916 replied to Fennygolf's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
^^Time and place. My family's prayers go out to each lost in the line of duty. I'm sorry you had to experience it first hand. Let that motivate you that much more to be a teacher to someone else like he was to you. Thank you for all you have done. -
Think of the top figure as two L's put together. Although that one is not drawn to scale the port exit width should be double the width of the entrance from each subs "chamber", if that makes sense.

idling

Thanks, ill shop around for it next time. Better to buy quality and treat the car right than pay for repairs. Besides purple stuff is always better -

I've always picked up whichever full synthetic oil and filter package special was being sold at kragen/oreilys. I've never seen a royal purple, something I missed or should buy somewhere special? -

Changing the filter out each time instead is interesting. But I really don't do a ton of stop and go so I guess I'm fine the way I've been going. I'd rather not chance something that is so cheap to do and go longer haha. Thanks -

Thankfully for my new alt, I don't ever see under 13.5 and never really have drop other than the slow decline as everything gets warm on a hot day. Thanks for the response, Ill be able to enjoy the bass breaks more knowing I'm not doing any harm then. -

That also brings up another discussion. I currently change my oil every 4 to 5k and I drive on the freeway much more than I drive the streets, 45 minute commute one way to work, school is about 20. When I drove my dads truck a while back, he had me change it every 2k, he towed a lot so I'm guessing that's why. My buddy changes his trucks oil every 20k! It's shocking to me.but he's got 200k on his Harley ford 150 and he drives it very hard, lot of street racing. So how often do u guys change oil? -
I'm just wondering if idling on my lunch breaks to get some bass in is harmful or better yet, more harmful than driving. I spend a decent amount of time idling on breaks and demos for friends. I know it wears my engine but is it more than normal driving or worse in any way? Thanks guys

What do you look forward to?

test bench
ryan916 replied to Sid420's topic in General Audio - Can't find a category for your question? Ask here.
no. because 14v batteries need to be charged at 16v. 12v batteries are charged at 14v. Yes I'm sure he's aware of that, but he is asking that because the battery of the test bench is not being charged. -
sa-12''s more power

I may have read over it but what is the coil configuration of your subs? I'm guessing d4s? -
The navigation I have on my phone is excellent. I almost feel like having a nice double din touch and a google Android or iPhone is better investment than a good quality navigation hu. You certainly will have a larger cleaner navigation setup but to me, it personally isn't worth it. You also can only use the thing in your car. I can take my phone and navi in my gf or buddies' cars and use it. Edit ^^ I definitely regret not getting.a hu with Pandora

It seems Kevin has had some customer service issues but I think he has realized that is what makes companies great and is focusing on it now. The company is expanding and producing amps soon. I'm interested to see how the company progresses over the next year or two. Thanks for the introduction Steve! We are glad to be apart of the SMD community where we hope we can help get more information about SKAR out there to the Car Audio world! Wrong 916er ha . But I think it was a great move on your part to come here. There's a large community here and a lot of people are curious about your product but haven't heard or seen it yet. Welcome! -
I don't think you should give up so easily. The hobby is often frustrating, and yes it is expensive, but so rewarding when it all lines up and those long, boring drives become some of the most enjoyable parts of the day. Hit up the manufacturer and troubleshoot some more. You'll be bangin soon
-
That I don't know. Im just sharing how I solved my problem that is sort of similar. Perhaps you should send the manufacturer an email or call. Something surely isn't right, whether its on the amps end or install end, who knows. I hope you can figure this out, its always a huge kill joy to have new toys that don't work.

Nice, I've read mixed reviews but for the most part the people who own the products enjoy them. Jacob from sundown designed a lot of it so you know they will do what they are designed to do -
Hmm that's pretty odd. This is from the bolt to the neg batt terminal? If that's what it reads you have to switch it. You want a ground that has zero resistance. Should read 0.000. Try some other locations and post your results
-
Oh I meant checking the resistance of your ground location to neg batt terminal and not the voltage. This is something you can check with the car off. You probably will have to use a jumper extension wire for one of the probes. How exactly is your wiring layer out?
-
I'm sure you have done this but have you double checked all power and remote wiring? Have you checked your ground with a dmm? Recently I had a hard time getting mine to power on and I didn't check my ground until then. I saw it had some resistance, I figured that seat belt bolt would be fine but obviously wasn't. I switched to a bolt right next to it that had zero resistance and fixed my problem
-
Where did you get the amp?
-
No I think he recommended the 30 for the 2.1 cubes which is right in the rule of thumb area. Punkrok not sure why you think its a problem
