Power Acoustik A3000db = Me Pissed Off

Recommended Posts

I have seen some of the amps benching around 1900-2000, but some guy on there swears up and down they will only do like 1200 watts or something rediculous like that.

My System:

Pioneer AVH-P3200BT

4-Dayton 7 inch reference series (front doors)

8-Onkyo 3/4 inch tweeters (dash)

1-Sundown Audio 100.4D (mids/highs)

2-18" BTL's (for now)

Crescendo 3kwp (for sale)

Complete rebuild coming soon...

heres the just of the concrete information from over there

i believe the rough numbers for absolute maximum output are

170 max amp draw

14.4

2448 max watts rms

i believe its 70% efficiency

2448*.7=1713.6watts max

now this is the absolute theoretical maximum that this amp can produce.

factoring in heat and otherwise which will continue to push the efficiency down, such as a lower ohm load which will decrease the efficiency quite a bit.

also with a thd of .5=5%=horrible

the human ear can start to determine distorion at 10%, so this amp just running, is already at half of it.

test at 1ohm= produced 1128watts

more testing

http://audioforum.termpro.com/topic/20/12106.html

WOOFERS:

2 12'' RE AUDIO SX 12 DUAL .7 OHM

AMP:

1 PA 3000DB

FIRST TEST AMP AT .7OHM NOMINAL

52.5 volts

17.5 amps

918 watts

3.05ohms after box rise

149.8dB

SECOND TEST AT .175 NOMINAL

31.5 volts

52.2amps

1644.3 watts

.603 ohms after box rise

150.6dB

EFFICIENCY AT .603OHM ACTUAL DCR:

outputpower/inputpower=0.56*100=56%

CURRENT DRAW AT .175 NOMINAL

257 amps

so even with a .603 REACTIVE load they didn't see even close to the claimed wattage, or even the theoretical possible maximum at 1 ohm.

I see... So basically they are at around 1700rms give or take.

I'm tellin you, it's gotta be because they switched out the original kind of transistors. Obviously they had to have done/not done something wrong/right during the repair process. Also, if the amp had blown caps inside, that's telling me that some resistors are probably fried too, which would make a HUGE difference. I'd make sure the amp isn't wired up if you haven't disconnected it already.
