DodgerCannon
Hi all, I'll be removing my baskets from my 18" 5s. Just wondering are the baskets glued to to motor? I've been told the screws are glued so ill need to use an impact driver to remove them. What glue shall I use to glue them back in? Thank you dudes. ChevyBoy95
Hi all, I'll be removing my baskets from my 18" 5s. Just wondering are the baskets glued to to motor? Thank you dudes. did this a few days ago, the screws just need to be broken loose then then come out decently easy. As far as getting the basket off, take the screws out and hit the bottom of the basket(while its sitting on its side) with a rubber mallet and it will separate(you have to hit it will a little force). edit: i used an impact and it took me less than a minute to get all the screws out. if you use an impact though, dont rip on em, just tap on the trigger and you will see it break the bead of glue over the screw(on the edge) and then it will come out easy. edit2: dwright > me (bad idea to suggest the impact.) dwright27
Do not use an impact. Use a number 3 Phillips and a hammer. Beat it down into the head to break the glue seal, after that keep pressure Down on the head until you get it to break. Then it's easy. Repeat process 6 times per sub. You'll need some force to Break the basket from the motor though as there is a ring of CA glue if I'm not mistaken. You hear almost a tearing paper sound which is the glue separating from the magnet, then you just pull them apart. mhart
I think i've used Acetone before to loosen the hard CA glue and then everything just falls out. CJ18
The basket is held on with a bead of rubber glue. I took a small grinder to the ca glue and then jsut took the screws out with a drill. Just hit the bottom lip of the basket with a rubber mallet and the basket will poop right off .
