How much power is your system pulling? I'd try to get enough wire to make it to a good clean frame ground, but if not a sanded off body/chassis ground would work. Then just make sure your big 3 is done and a body/chassis ground is to the engine block under the hood. Quote 1997 Chevrolet Silverado Extended Cab, 350 Vortec Things to come at some point... bass_stalker
im only going to be running a 600 watt 6 channel for a while. i haven't done the big three yet but i hope i can in about a month or two. i don't think i will have enough to go to my frame seeing as i only have 3 feet of wire to work with. now the challenge will be finding a spot that isnt directly above my gas tank Edited September 17, 2011 by bass_stalker Quote JEEP BUILD PROJECT ANTIBLING.2000 jeep Cherokee.HEADUNITAlpine Cda-9886SUBSTAGE1 acendent 18" audio mayhem motor with a TI basket and tantric parts1 prototype DAT hellfire 1000.1HIGHSStockELECTRICALdb link 0 gaugeKnuconceptz Kolossus 4 gauge1 xs power d3400 under hoodBig 3 upgradeold fourwheeler build The only way to delete your SMD account is for you crawl to steve meades door step on your knees and pleade for his forgiveness and acceptance to be released...He will either grant your wishes.....or choke you with a large piece of 0 gauge and electrocute you by hooking up a solid gold DC 12k at 0.000001 ohm and 10000 volts to your eye sockets and blow your head apart You guys act like you have never clogged a toilet and ran around the bathroom frantically hoping it don't overflow. Which isn't pulling much at all. So just find a place on the chassis, sand it off and tap a bolt/nut or screw. With that much power you don't really need to do big 3, but it's always there for future builds/upgrades. Quote 1997 Chevrolet Silverado Extended Cab, 350 Vortec Things to come at some point... superdave07
If you can ground to the engine block itself do so. If not, frame. And make sure big 3 is done either way...good luck Quote Xterra * 69 Camaro * Audi S5 36 Ford * 51 Mercury looking for wire sponsor www.flyracing.com
bass_stalker
for the big three or for the amp? i was asking about the amp ground. yeah for the big three i know 1 goes to the engine from the battery and one goes from the frame to the battery. i don't really like the way the battery is grounded to the fender currently Quote JEEP BUILD PROJECT ANTIBLING.2000 jeep Cherokee.HEADUNITAlpine Cda-9886SUBSTAGE1 acendent 18" audio mayhem motor with a TI basket and tantric parts1 prototype DAT hellfire 1000.1HIGHSStockELECTRICALdb link 0 gaugeKnuconceptz Kolossus 4 gauge1 xs power d3400 under hoodBig 3 upgradeold fourwheeler build The only way to delete your SMD account is for you crawl to steve meades door step on your knees and pleade for his forgiveness and acceptance to be released...He will either grant your wishes.....or choke you with a large piece of 0 gauge and electrocute you by hooking up a solid gold DC 12k at 0.000001 ohm and 10000 volts to your eye sockets and blow your head apart You guys act like you have never clogged a toilet and ran around the bathroom frantically hoping it don't overflow. superdave07
Are you using a 2nd battery? If you have a second or more battery i was saying ground the extra batteries to the engine itself, or frame if you cant do it to the engine. As far as just the amp, frame would probably be the best. Your electrical system grounds thru the engine to the drive train. So the engine itself is your best source for ground. However always do the big three. And one good ground is better than a bunch of bad ones.
