Fish Chris
This thread has brought up some seriously over the top shiz ! Exactly the kind of stuff I like to see So glad I asked. Hey now River, those are some of the craziest "automotive alternator" set ups I've ever seen...... But wouldn't those guys be PISSED if some goof ball named "Fish" suddenly came into some cash, and built "1" freaking huge, stupidly powerful generator, hooked up with direct drive to a nice, strong, turbo diesel, and started making 2 or 3 X's as much juice as they do with all 12 of those alternators, with 1, big, fat, generator, engineared just for the purpose ???? The whole "strap a bunch of alternators together, to get enough juice"..... To me seems like this > So, you have a big rig trailer overloaded like a SOB... like 300,000 lbs (at some site, off of public roadways). You can pull it with whatever you want. Are you going to use the biggest, baddest, craziest geared tractor you can find ? .......or, are you going to rig up a chain of 40 Volkswagon Beetles ? Just saying. Anyway, hey, those demo vehicles are rediculous / very cool EVEN some of those crazy mid-range setups from Brazil, show a ton of thought, and creativity...... Peace, Fish

riveracc1
I'm sure that using just one big giant source of power for all would be the goal but it does has it's drawbacks...availability being one. I recently saw some info about those huge earth movers and machines used for the mining industry where the diesel engine just makes a huge generator run. The power to the hidraulics and the wheels is all electrical. I also know that modern trains are electrically driven as all "hybrid" vehicles have some sort of "alternator/motor" combination. There was an old model of alternators from the "Lexidine" brand that was actually 3 separate alternator inside one case and with one shaft. It had diodes on each side...those "600 amps" alternators are really hard to find. I've seen such talent and ideas on this and other pages that i'm sure that ANY abnormality could be cosntructed...i guess the actual vehicle would be the only obstacle. I would surely be waiting to see the "Mega-Turbo Diesel Generator...Fish Edition" being hauled down the freeway ponding some serious watts. Bigballa39213
The Linear Power bread truck "Ear Candy" had 24 Stroker 15s and 24 highly modded Linear Power 4.1HVs. A stock 4.1 HV will do about 1250 watts RMS. They were modded to take 220 Volts of battery power. I think each amps was around 5000 Watts RMS after mods. 98 Chevy Blazer 4 Door Stock Everything The New Setup 1 - Pioneer AVH-P5200DVD 1- Pioneer DEH-80PRS 2 - Blues Audio 5.25 Mids ( On the dash ) 2 - Blues Audio BL8.0C Components ( In the front doors ) 2 - Blues Audio BL8.0 Woofers ( In the rear doors ) 1 - Linear Power 952 ( Dash ) 1 - Linear Power 2202IQ Modified ( Components ) 1 - Linear Power 3002 ( Rear Doors ) 1 - SoundStream XBP-10 Processor 1 - SoundStream BX-20Z 2 - SoundStream DTR1.3400D 4 - RE Audio SX12D4
Audio-Concepts
The Linear Power bread truck was the most Ive seen. The bread truck also had 144 12" subs I believe, not sure of numbers, but to think 122 subs would move some air, plus it was prolly a low impedance so current draw wasnt as substantial. Also noting that if you talk to Ray @ TIPS, he will tell you low impedance hurts the equipment, so push great voltage and run higher impedance you can have you equipment last for decades to come! That was the second setup in that truck. Dont forget I live near the truck. Ive seen it in and out many times.
