gally
So....i finally statret to build my car audio system.. and here and there i bought some batteries... and some 0 gauge... the problem is the subs... i am going to order 2 15...but dont know which one to order the subs will take EACH from 500 - 750wRMS, so the range power for both will be around 1000- 1500wRMS... the subs will be... well i need oppinions and some help with this... the box is going to be at max at 6 cubic foot...maybe 7 at MAX subs would be... A:)2 re audio SE 15 or B:)2 re audio SX 15 I was for the SE model FIRST, but the SXs can take much more power....so could be ANYthing wrong if I power the subwoofer that is rated at 1000wRMS, with the power of 600wRMS??? bass_stalker
shouldnt be. you cant damage it from under powering it. not too sure how under powering affects the sound though. gally
well i know if i chose the SE would be in the right power range...but still...the SX can take that much more power...and if they take like 600rms at piece...... would do any harm? thecityxignites
The only thing I can think of that could hurt em if you are underpowering is clipping. Quote 2001 chevy cavalier Rebuild in progress what happens when your CD player skips and you accidentally drop a 22 hz sine bomb at an unholy volume on 7-8 year old subs? Mechanical failure floppy sub knockage on at least 2. well...as i see the level 6 is compared to a lamborghini.....but a corvette? i was thinking more like a chevy volt. its cute and new and "hip", but i would just rather stick my dick in a blender......... C-Fizzy
You can't clip a sub by underpowering it. Unless you have a "1000" watt amp with the gain maxed out. thecityxignites
Clipping is when you square off a sine wave, which is sending your subs dirty power. The only two ways to tell if you're clipping is an o scope or dd-1. Just because a woofer is rated at a certain rms rating, doesn't mean you have to have that amount of power. gally
You can't clip a sub by underpowering it. Unless you have a "1000" watt amp with the gain maxed out. my gain is almost allways at minimal oh...and the amp would be an Ground Zero 1200DX...it gives 1440wRMS of clean power at 13,8V or 1260wRMS at 12,4V Edited September 22, 2011 by gally Quote 2010 Chevrolet Cruze Radio --- pioneer mvh-200vbt Front/back --- alpine type s 6.5" Sub Control --- Pac LC1 Sub Amp --- GZPA 1.4K Sub --- GZNW 15XSPL D1 Battery - GZBP 12.2500X
gally
the only reason WHY i am asking this question is because i would like to have these 2 subs for a long period of time...and then, maybe for like a year later i would change the amplifier that would properly power the Sx.... or i wouls just stay at the SE line....but then still...it would be overpowering...
