Vooloco
Is there any advantages over 2 ohms to 1 ohm? I'm hooking up 2 subs to one amp once I order them.
TeamHT
You've got some learning to do buddy. But your woofer voicecoil configurations will help you decide on an amp. If you plan on wiring two subs to a single amp, is it monoblock? If so, is desired power achieved at 1 ohm, 2 ohms, 4 ohms? Quote Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you? TeamHT
Basically check this out if you're new and unsure of woofer final ohm loads. http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp Also look up bcae1 Quote Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you? Vooloco
Well I knew that 2 ohms takes twice the power of 1 ohm to power, but why would anyone even want a 2 ohm sub then?
big dee
2 ohm doesn't draw as much current from your electrical system.
Vooloco
2 ohm doesn't draw as much current from your electrical system. Yeah, but then you would have to get 2x bigger amp then a 1 ohm sub correct? And yes i'm new at this.
TeamHT
Where are you getting your information? Quote Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
big dee
No not at all. It depends on how many watts the subs are and just match the rms to the amps rms. If you have 2 dual voicecoils subs that are 4ohms coils. Depending on how you wire them you can get 2 ohms . The get a amp that does rated power @2ohms . Its realy not that hard. You don't need 2time size amp .
big dee
You need to learn the basics for it to make sence.
big dee
Its kinda hard to understand what your asking realy. One advantage of runing 2ohms would be your amps 2ohms. Jlaudios web site has a wiring diagram that breaks it all down that might be easyer that people trying to explane it when it could confuse you worse.
