Sergeant_Skyrim Posted September 29, 2011 Report Posted September 29, 2011 If I'm wanting to play songs that range anywhere from 33-45Hz, should I actually tune lower than 33Hz? I thought that tuning a box to a certain frequency meant that that would be the ideal frequency for the box to play at. Is the ideal frequency still going to be louder than that? Also, this is by no means going to be a competing system, just 2 12" Kicker Comps forward firing sealed off from my trunk. But I do love lows, and I planned on playing a variety of songs that got pretty low. Which brings me to another question...If I tune it to around 30 or 33Hz, will I still play mid-high 40s fairly decent? Thanks to anybody that can help a noob further his knowledge! Build in progress
Bigsix Posted September 29, 2011 Report Posted September 29, 2011 I might be wrong here, but this is my understanding, it is ok to play music higher than what your box is tuned to, but can possibly be bad to play music significantly lower than where youre tuned. RooTxBeeR Posted September 29, 2011 Report Posted September 29, 2011 My box is suposed to be tuned to 32, but is more around 33 since I messed up when I built it. It plays down to about 30-31 and goes up to about 55Hz, playing around 55hz is where the bass feeling is strongest because my cars resonance is around there. Above that though it plays but it rolls off and drops db's from there.
