Ray
Your definition of distortion is skewed.. what is distortion? How is it different than regular music if both signals are unclipped? traxxas101
I see what ur saying now.. But lets say the output on a mixer was clipping and it was recorded as a clipping sine wave.. And i played it through my system it wouldnt be considered clipping then? If so why?
Ray
you answered your own question.. its clipped.. clipping is bad.. but distortion can be tons of things.. hell, what about a guitar on the distortion pedal? see what i mean? traxxas101
Thats what i thought to? Distortion isnt bad at all in some ways.. But clipping is very bad! Its only when a amp is cutting the sine wave thats not distortion its clipping.. Thanks for your input(:
MrSkippyJ
Ever heard of a guitar amp blowing because of distortion? Clipping is a form of distortion, so in a way yes. But not all forms of distortion will do harm to you equipment.
