That determines the impedance of the subwoofers voicecoils. Ohms are a measurement of resistance. Every amp makes different power at different ohm loads. So when buying subs it's best to know at what impedance your amp produces the most power. It's normally 1 or 2 ohms on most amps. The difference between dvc4 and dvc2 is just the wiring options each sub gives you. A SINGLE dvc4 sub can wired to 2ohms or 8ohms, a PAIR of dvc4 subs can be wired to 1ohm or 4ohms. A SINGLE dvc2 can be wired to 1ohm or 4ohm. A PAIR of dvc2's can be wired to .5ohm or 2ohms. Hope that helps a little so far... The official ETA for the OA-18 hasn't been announced but nick has said that he hopes it will be by late December. If you have the room then the 18 would be better just because of more cone area.
