CHEVY4X4BLAZER
Can you put your other alt back in for now ? Maybe you'll come across the problem doing so.
memphisBred
Ran a new wire from starter to alt post and it's creating big sparks every time I touch the wire to the post. Seems like straight to the battery wouldn't fix m problem as I have two 1/0 runs from alt to battery. MECHMAN
Check the fusible link like Ray said, if they are blown it won't work. Quote 1-888-MECHMAN www.Mechman.com [email protected]
extremeauto
What's the best way to lengthen/make the cable reach? I was hoping to see the cable ran a long way zip tied at certain spots but it looks like it's as far as it will go. best way to make a cable longer is to add a fuse holder or distribution block .....i would suggest you hook up the alt side of the wire then run it as far as you can then add from the bat to the wire....or you could always just put in a longer piece of wire.....but as far as nothing working you will need to check and see what the wires on ur factory alt did and re attache them to the new harness...and u can use a test light to check the old wiring as well ...u may have to hook up the old alt tho Edited October 14, 2011 by extremeauto Quote 1995 Honda passport 3.2 4x4 Frankenstein on a budget ballistics sound deader (roof only so far) kenwood mp3 usb audio control 3 (upgrading) hifonics mx-3 3 sets of massive px5 5.25s 3 sets of massive tweets phonix gold 5.25 componets x2 massive nx4 nano 200x4 mids sony xplod 600x4 watt high's 2 Fi bl fully loaded box walled @31ish hz 13.2 cube box/wall massive DB8000 Excessive amaperge 250 amp alt wir extrnl regulator daul runs of xs power xpflex 0 gauge big 3 raptor 0 gauge power/ground wire full run suriken 45 amp hour x3 shriken bt-120 batts, interstate 1100CA semi batt scytek galaxy 2way alarm still upgradeing! Also there's three 12v posts on the starter does it matter which one I use? Quote SMD Super Seller/Buyer Audison----Hertz----Rainbow
extremeauto
What exactly is the fusible link? Where should I be looking? Also there's three 12v posts on the starter does it matter which one I use? ok im a bit confused...... you should have a wire going from the alt to a fuse(0gauge and a 200 amp or bigger fuse u bought not the factory 1) then it needs to go to the batt also use 0 gauge..next you will need a wire running from the bat or alt to the fuse box under the hood (this is usually a 8gauge wire and bolted to the fuse center under the hood coming off the alt or bat...sounds like this wire is disconnected) next make sure all your grounds are connected, i.e. bat to firewall, engine to fire wall & frame frame to body bat to engine via alt ground...(use as much of the factory wire as you car with your new wire never hurts to have extra connections) hit me up if you have any more issues getting this thing goin...i have alldata and am not doin much today @ my shop...i will help as much as i can Quote 1995 Honda passport 3.2 4x4 Frankenstein on a budget ballistics sound deader (roof only so far) kenwood mp3 usb audio control 3 (upgrading) hifonics mx-3 3 sets of massive px5 5.25s 3 sets of massive tweets phonix gold 5.25 componets x2 massive nx4 nano 200x4 mids sony xplod 600x4 watt high's 2 Fi bl fully loaded box walled @31ish hz 13.2 cube box/wall massive DB8000 Excessive amaperge 250 amp alt wir extrnl regulator daul runs of xs power xpflex 0 gauge big 3 raptor 0 gauge power/ground wire full run suriken 45 amp hour x3 shriken bt-120 batts, interstate 1100CA semi batt scytek galaxy 2way alarm still upgradeing! memphisBred
Everythings good. I used a bolt/nut/washer to connect the short wire to a 6" piece of 8 awg and was able to get it to reach. Thanks to Matt @ mechman for that tip and all the members here for the help.
