PUNKYOU007
So i just had two of my alts rebuilt by a well known company...I got them both back today. Should I be able to spin the alt freely? Meaning should I be able to grab the pulley and spin it with no problem? Should an alt make noise when I spin it with my hand...specifically a tick kinda noise. I ask because one alt will rock back and forth like maybe a 1/4" total but I can not spin it at all...the other will spin but at a certain spot you can hear like a tick noise...maybe some metal on metal contact? But it does spin all the way no problem. Doethepaperboy "Bars of Pain" Doethepaperboy "Hero Remix" C. Arson d(-__-)b beer sucks...but i can bring some jose cuervo. Only problem is that it makes me horny and gives me the rams. So unless yall wanna fight and then have some great make up sex i will leave it home. AMI CUSTOMS
Alt should spin FREELY not have any resistance to it. If you are hearing a noise, it may just be the bearing to shaft contact, once you put load on it, should go away. And there shouldn't any play in the shaft to bearing if that is what you are taking about, the pulley shouldn't move, just rotate. Guest
i'd contact the company immediately. but i've had something similar happen to an alt i bought off of ebay. it had brand new brushes and all the other goodies inside and i wasnt able to spin it more than like 1/4" like you said. but i said fuck it and kept forcing it and it eventually turned and made a scratching noise. but then i kept turning it and the scratching noise got quieter and quieter and the alt got easier to spin. i kept spinning it and the noise went away completely and the pulley spun freely. PUNKYOU007
Well thats what I thought...I put a call into the company who built them but had to leave a message. I just wanted some other feedback in the mean time. Yeah so one alt will not spin but like 1/4" total and the other spins smoothly but at a certain point there is a clicking noise...I can turn the pulley back and forth in that spot and it just keeps clicking. There were two Iraggi units I had built into 270s...they should be like new, only thing that wasn't changed was the housings I believe. Doethepaperboy "Bars of Pain" Doethepaperboy "Hero Remix" C. AMI CUSTOMS
Then that is probably the brush you are hearing just against a certain spot on the rotor shaft, normal as the brush starts to make a new wear groove it will go away.
