BassJunkie
As the title states why are home amps so expensive and not put out a ton of power? Car amps take dc and turn it into ac current to amplify a sound source so I understand the cost. But why aren't home amps huge/cheap considering you're running ac to begin with and have 120v to play with rather than only having 12v to play with? This may be a dumb question but its something I've always wondered. 1986 C20 Suburban 9 American Bass XFL 15's B2 M1MKII 14v XS Power Batteries Maxwell Caps Acoustical energy is free. Beanz
Maybe cause you dont need that much power compared to a car??I mean do you really wnat 5000 watts of power in your room? That's why they don't deliver. Yer ass better go sit along the side of the road and wait. You can't expect them to travel up some dirt road in a hick / back woods town. Thats how horror movies start I explain things very simply and use analogies in terms of Pickles, and grape drink, pool noodles and jackhammers...if you can't put 2 and 2 together there man, There simply is not much more I can do. Cardboardcat15
I've always wondered this too. My sub amp for my HT setup only puts out 500 watts @ 4 ohms, that bitch was damn near 300 dollars. ( a lot for someone on a budget) My Channel on YouTube. bass_stalker
some of the crown amps can do like 2500 watts, so not all home audio amps are small. as for the cost i would think they must have some kind of large power supply in them or lots of caps. another thing i would think is that most home audio is at 8 ohm. so you have to put more power in to get decent power.
