Hadec
I want to get (1) 15" SMD sub but I'm having trouble finding a cheap amp. Will this work? http://www.bossaudio.com/main/1142# or maybe this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/POWER-ACOUSTIK-BAMF-5500-1D-5500-WATT-MONO-AMPLIFIER-CAR-AMP-BAMF5500-1D-5000-/230673010414?pt=Car_Amplifiers&hash=item35b52eceee#ht_3067wt_1058 Quote Working on my first car audio build ever! SoCaLBaMF
If youre going to get such a nice subwoofer, why cheap out on the thing that powers it?... kinda a waste IMO. Plus those amps arent even putting out CLOSE to what they say they are. Go with a AQ 3500, Sundown 3500, or DC... /thread. JPagan
Sounds like a AA Havoc or Mayhem would be better for you since you aren't going to find a cheap amp that can give a SMD the power it wants.

Yeah but it is temporary until I get more money. Why get a mayhem when I will upgrade it anyways? You know? Edited November 13, 2011 by Hadec Quote Working on my first car audio build ever! technics
well personally id just wait then until you can afford a decent amp instead of spending money on crap and having to save more for a decent one, keep in mind to run real power to a SMD youll need to make sure your electricals up to scratch

If you are asking if a BOSS amp would be good for a under rated 3500w sub then I am guessing you are new to audio? 1 15" mayhem in maybe a 4 cubic foot box on 2500-3000 watts will be a lot louder than you think. michigancapri92
agreed that would be like getting a koenigsegg ccx and putting 87octane fuel into it ... if your going to get an SMD subwoofer you gota give it good, rated, CLEAN power ... i stress CLEAN power Quote Teamcapri.comThe TeamCapri 1992 Mercury Capri XR22012 FORD EDGE SQ BUILDOld build logMy FeedBack1992 Mercury capri XR2 Hyper LED
