Need advice on alternators

Recommended Posts

Hey Steve, or anyone who can help me.

Im looking for an alternator for my 2001 chevy silverado that can keep my voltage up. i have 2 powerbass 3000d running off of 2 yellow tops and when i play my music loud which is 99.9% of the time my truck is running my voltage drops under 12 at idle and i can barely keep it at 12.9 if @ around 2,000rpm when system is off my voltage is at 14.5

Can anyone help me out on where i can find a 240+ amp alternator not too expensive.

seeing you have a GM i'm sure you can get a 300 amp

2-DC 15XLM2 D.7s

1-DC 5K amp

(1) XS Power D6500(UNDERHOOD) and (1) XS3000(REAR)

3 runs 1/0ga for power and 2 runs of 1/0ga for negative.

(2)-RFT165s components, ...... 4 separate 1 inch tweetersRF T600-2(fronts) Punch 450.4(rear)

Audiocontrol 3.1.

DC power 260amp alternator w/MLA Module

a 240 will do you nicely.......you will get more "at idle" amperage than a 300.  The 300 would kick in after 1000 or so rpm which isnt too bad.

Dom has a couple different "series" of alts.....one is more expensive then the other and im not sure the difference but he can tell you.

[email protected]  615-287-7991 ive been running Iraggi Alts for almost 4 years now, sold them to all my friends whether they have systems or 4x4's with winches......Hit him up im sure he will take good care of you.

There's the "Dominator" series and the "Amputator" series for each rated alt. The only difference is one provides more amperage at idle.

I paid $440 for my 300 Amp Alt "Amputator" Series. Wonderful alternator and couldn't be happier. Only con was that he said it was a direct bolt on....lol my ass. I had to bend the back mount out of the way because it wouldn't bolt in, but the alternator sits just fine with the other mounting spots.  :^
