THEKINGsBACK Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 ok so i finally got around to installing my Mechman Alt in my truck... Read the Directions and got it been working good for a few days, Well I already had the power wire upgraded from the alt to the battery and an ground upgraded on a D3400...(brand new).. Well Tonite after i upgraded the ground my check engine light come on and im wondering why.. Its tight... Cleaned the paint off the metal smooth surface and all like im good. or at least i thought i was. An also I wondering why im not seeing about a 13.7 charge from my alt.. I could have to myself i would have been voltage..? any ideas he wouldnt be the first to say they did a 167 with a system like that (one that clearly DOESNT), but i have to say, he didnt beat me anywhere, ive never competed against the guy. If he thinks his does a 167, mine would probably put him in a coma. :hairtrick:

cvxsmitty58 Posted November 18, 2011 Report Posted November 18, 2011 have you tested to see what the code is.....if not do this..... if you put the key in the ignition and turn it forward ( don't start it) just to the on position then off three times within 5 sec. So turn forward, back, forward, back, forward, back. The check engine light will flash and the odometer will show some numbers.

Team808 Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 your gonna need to get the code checked,gonna need a scanner to do this, any mechanic or autozone will have one.have the code read ,write it down, then erase it, then drive it to see if it comes back on.Could have been a glinch in the system, so before you go and start replacing parts , make sure the check engine light comes back on and see if the same code repeats.Then let us know what code it is. corteznewbie Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 most jeeps the ecu contrals the voltage. ones it goes past a certain point it will trigger the light. i cant go past 14.7 or my check engine light kicks on. does the factory voltage gauge peg out ? Team DBs (Driven By sound)
