BassJunkie
Car did not start from jumping it at all, acted the same. Even acted the same when put on my 50a battery charger on engine start settings. Can't be the timing belt because there isnt one. I've got my money on a short somewhere, just weird i happened on a perfectly smooth road going 15 mph 1986 C20 Suburban 9 American Bass XFL 15's B2 M1MKII 14v XS Power Batteries Maxwell Caps Acoustical energy is free. I've got my money on a short somewhere, just weird i happened on a perfectly smooth road going 15 mph Check your main fuses in the engine compartment. There arent too many electrical components that will just stop the car all together. If your fuses check out test for spark at one of the plugs... do your hear the fuel pump kick in when you turn the key ? BassJunkie
I'll test fuses out tomorrow, its dark out tonight. Doubt its the fuel pump and I can't check spark plugs since my engine wont turn over. Honestly I'm not sure how it died, I just looked down and seen my rpm gauge was at zero. Didnt feel any sputter. No CEI, and the starter engages but can't turn the engine over which made it seem like a low battery. 1986 C20 Suburban 9 American Bass XFL 15's B2 M1MKII 14v XS Power Batteries Maxwell Caps Acoustical energy is free. EclipseChris
So with a charged battery the car will start and run, but only for a short time? Check the alt bro, you may have just bought a new battery for no reason. i resolve to be a nicer moderator. Tercel build R.I.P. Eclipse build Old New V-Dub My feedback. 1988JimmyRE
check the grounds.. also if the alternator failed and you were running at like 10.5V i think you would notice but if that did happen your computer would have taken a shit with that low voltage BUILD LOG-->1988 S15 Jimmy V8 4x4 2 15" RE Audio<--BUILD LOG

No CEI, and the starter engages but can't turn the engine over which made it seem like a low battery. The problem with low battery theory is that your car will run without the battery. Your alternator is what keeps the car running. But if it was alternator, the jump start should have gotten it at least started. (assuming decent cables). In the rare event that you alternator/battery and starter all failed at the same time would just be near impossible (buy a lotto ticket if this is the case). The fact that it wont even turn over with a jump start is concerning. Could be a bad ignition switch. Check the alt bro, you may have just bought a new battery for no reason. I wish it were that simple, it simply wont start at all!
