Wow, looks like that birch is easy to kerf! When I was experimenting with mdf, there was no way I could get a bend that smooth with that much material left in the kerf.

a broken nose can cause cerebrospinal fluid to come out. Yeah I feel fine but just a precautionary measure.

I've never tried mdf but I left 1/8 inch as you can see and its literally 90% smooth. Originally on my practice piece I left about 1/16 of an inch and you could noticeably see the bend.

Yea if you leave 1/8th" on mdf, it will snap. And when you leave 1/16th" it bends real nice but you can see the ridges where the kerfs are. You can sand it down pretty smooth, but it's a lot of work.

gotcha you need to go with birch then lol! And good quality birch not homedepot stuff
