As you can see by the title and product list below it will be pretty extensive, extremely tedious, and lengthly.

I want to do it right the first time so i can stop rebuilding every 3 weeks (probably wont work)

I have been planning this build for a while but did not want to post it until I was ready to start work on it.

Now that the semester is winding down i will have some time to work on this through christmas break and have it done ASAP

All of the planning is done, the box is designed and disassembly of the old system will start today.

If you guys saw my old build it was this:

http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/114678-gmc-sierra-2500hd-4-15-dc-xls-12k-ipad-video-posted/

Here is the list of products that will be included:

(6) DC Audio XL 15s added spiders, reinforced surround, direct leads etc

(2) DC Audio 12k amps for now i will eventually end up with 3

(4) DC lvl 2 8"s in a sealed box

(1) DC 2.0k to run the 8s

(1) DC 175.4 for the mids

(8 ) Rainbow 5.25s...2 in each door and 2 in each pillar

(4) Rainbow tweets running of the HU with bass blockers at 2300 hz

(1) Mechman 270 alt

(1) Mechman 350 alt

(1) DC power dual alt bracket

Pioneer 4300 double din in the console

iPad in the dash (left over from last build)

More suede on the door, rear door panels are coming off and getting covered in wood to add width

Lots of foam and more deadener

XS Power VCM

Knu power wire, speaker wire, and signal cable

Clarion EQ for the highs and mids

Toolmaker dual inputs for the 12ks

Batteries: undecided but i will get plenty when the time comes. it will be 12 volt though

I am sure i'm missing something.

There will be a fully custom center console (with a lot of fiberglass work for shaping...not a square custom console..I'm sorry i hate those) that will hold the four DC 8s, Pioneer 4300, XS VCM, voltage meters, switches to be able to turn off the door amp and mid amp if necessary and plexiglass amp rack for the DC 2.0. It will connect with the front of the dash and to the box itself in the rear.

Amps will mount on the side of the box (12ks on drivers side and 175.4 on passenger side with room for other 12k later on)

The pillars are going to hold a total of 4 Rainbow 5.25s and 4 Rainbow tweets that will all be made to fit with fiberglass pods. The doors will be similar to my old door pods but I went with smaller speakers so I could angle them towards the driver and passenger instead of doing 6.5s like i had before and having to leave them flat on the doors.

The batteries will be in the bed and wires will run through front of bed and back of cab behind the box. I am not sure what brand i will go with but i want to do 6-7 batts per 12k (due to my insufficient charging system...about 750 amps in a perfect world...but i dont have a choice i have a big block 496 and no more room for anything more than 2 alts) and 1 in the front to run the 175.4 and 2.0k.

The subs will be on the passenger side of the box and have interchangeable ports on the drivers side. There will be 3 ports the main will be a 35 hz or a 30 (depending on which one i like more) then when the port is removed it will leave the thickness of the baffle (2.25") by the dimensions of the port to make a 51 hz port that will be nice and efficient for burps. 51 is where my truck likes to burp at btw. The other 2 ports (35 and 30 hz) will have 3" ABS tubing round overs on the outside and round overs on the inside also.

The 35 and 30 hz ports will be 280 cubic inches (15 inches per cube) and the 51 hz port will go up to 420 cubic inches (19 inches per cube)

Overall I am really excited about this build and have high expectations for it once its all done.

Let me know your thoughts I will have pictures later on today when i get to work.

Edit:

Here are the pics from page 2 that i uploaded after this post:

3.jpg

I ground the tabs off so i can flush mount all the door speakers

I know they are the cheaper rainbows but i figure they will still be really nice...and having that many as close to you as i plan on having them im sure they will be loud

8.jpg

Here is some of the wire. there is much more on the way but all my rcas, speaker wire, sub wiring etc is in there

10.jpg

Many many cans of this going in there.

Deadener is also on the way.

Love the equipment especially the rainbow mids
