n8ball2013 Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 the way i did my battery bank(which will be under the wall) si as follows Dual batts up front. one on each side Three runs positive and negative to the back from each side. since I couldnt link the batteries in the back under one bussbar I did 3 per side in the back. each side is linked together and then three runs from each side of 4/0 link to a center buss bar that goes to my amps. im anal about trying to keep the runs all the same length or close to it. I just bought a brand new orbital Ridgid from HD (Gift cards ftw) and they still come with a lifetime warranty, thought that was kind of amazing compared to others lol. Think it was about $60~$70 before the gift cards. i normally sand everything my hand or with the numatic (however its spelled) sander. if it will help me do this and the head liner quicker send me a link to it please ^^I have no idea. i would say no as long as they are close. The ft difference for instance my amps will see from far right on the rear amp to far left inputs on the front amp shouldnt make a difference. i mean current travels so damn fast its insane and over a ft i bets its like a nanosecond difference. i guess on my bus bars in the bed all the leads cannot all be at the exact same place so i guess i could move the leads which are closest to the amps down the bus bars so they are a lot closer to all the same length. that would work well to make them real close. but bottom line i have no idea lol Someone else please chimp in who knows better than me sorry man Here is the way it was explained to me by Mike Singer. You will have 12 runs of power running into the truck from the batteries, 6 to each amp. If you have say 10 batteries connected together in a row by buss bars. You are now running all of your power wire into the driver side of the truck. If you were to run all 12 wires off of the 3-4 batteries on the left side of the bank, you are going to draw more on those few batteries and not as much on the other 6 on the other side of the bank. If you were to spread out the runs over the entire bank of batteries, you are now drawing evenly across all of the batteries instead of focusing all of the draw on just part of the bank. You can then swap out with a perfect template for a new buss bar in a thicker material. n8ball2013 Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 no that should cause even draw. here this might help you. everything is exactly the same. Each battery has one run coming in directly to the terminal. Each run to the bussbars in the center is drilled in exactly the same place. If you did a bussbar on the side of the box it would be just like the one I did in the middle. It would add another point of failure if it would fail and could be considered a weak point. I had no other way to do it. If I were doing your truck I would skip that. I would just make sure that each run came from the exact same spot or very close to it on the buss bar. What I mean by this is if you take one run from right next to the battery for one. Take the other runs from the same place near the other batteries. How many batteries and how many inputs do your amps take? scooter99 Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 So yesterday i got the headliner fully dry and could start cutting it down to hopefully get it up (after its sanded and shit) so i can do all the flush mounts and the sealing parts from the box to the b pillarsHeres the pics Did you cut that thing with a sawzall!?! EPIC! I love it! So i got the 12ks up today and the fans mounted and wired up. If someone is trying to play their music loud around me they will just see this...no need to even turn it up because i highly highly doubt anyone on the streets around here will be louder....with an exception of one van haaha but im comin for it lol GAWD DAMN THOSE ARE HUGE!!! I had no idea those amps were that long! They must be heavy! I feel like I'm talking to a pornstar with size double HH's. HA! Only I'm really talking about the amps! They really are sexy! And I love the way they play peekaboo in that last pic with the window down! Awesome! Shits coming along nicely! I'm liking the center console. The only thing I'm kicking back and forth is, under the double din spot, it almost seems like it should flow into the bottom instead of diving back in. Just seems, to me, that it would flow better if it ran right into the flat part. Just a thought. Keep it up man! I love this build! The power shit is so far over my head guys! I can't even wrap my head around 6 runs of 1/0 ga from front to back. It's just crazy to me! But I've never done a build to this magnitude! YET! Me: Umm, cause I don't have it now, and I need another one! Wife: But if you don't have one why do you need another one? You have enough tools already don't you? Me: Nope, don't have this one. If I had it I wouldn't need it! Wife: Sigh! Pretty much the way it works! Is that the variable speed one? The one I have is exactly like that, but I think mine is variable speed. It has a knob on the top front of it. GREAT for sanding glass! Pick up one of those cheapy multi packs of sand paper, like 100 discs in a pack, and you're home free! Detail sand by hand! WINNING!!
