I agree with chris ( LSN2) i think there should better critary that in which you can be nominated for system of the month, and then have a section that always users to vote on a 5 star basis. from show quality, install, so fourth and so fourth. I think it will make the voting a lot better. and then also help the installer work on his own.. i mean if he didnt get a 5 star on quality, maybe he can improve something..

I dont know.. i have looked at everyones system in the vote. and i liked chris setup. i followed his builds, and i have followed a few others since day one. I liked pstones setup too, but since i could only vote for one, i gave my vote to a fellow california peep. and like i said, i really liked his setup, and the way he did all his work. it was bitchin to watch.... I hope to have him help me do a setup one of these days...

Well truthfully, I don't think I can agree with that 100%.

I would gladly put my Cars setup up against Pstone and the Sausage-as we BOTH did a build based on it LOOKing and sounding good and tried to make it show worthy and "unique".

While I totally appreciate the support and props from the SMD guys, local or otherwise-

I DO NOT think I should get a vote based on location/popularity/or someone trying to stay in my graces for future relations.

If "they" were in the running, I would not vote for Steve himself, NOR any "mod/admin/etc" based solely on THAT or that I knew them personally etc-I would let the installs speak for themselves.

The idea that someone could get outvoted based on some one voting for their buddy instead of THE BEST setup is one of my main concerns and if thats the case I would not want to even participate.

Everyone should just vote the best setup period, and having a multiple category/class structure would help I think.

Man - This site is getting huge, and I agree 100% with you... The separation is going to be impossible though... The pros like Epicenter, Coogle, Oki, Gately, Ray ...etc..... who have shops... Can they really be separate from the solo garage builders like you, Tim, Roscoe (if he builds at home....), Kingsuv, myself, and even Steve for that matter?? How can you even pick catagories?? What about our young guys like nismo and whiteboi? - sould they be separate also?? ? What would the criteria be?? How can you keep the hometown favoritism out of it?? Should there be a timeframe for nominations... Is a 5 month old build too old to qualify?? I really don't know...... Good luck with this Chode.. Craziness..

Yea thats a very good point. The shop guys VS the garage builders.

The "it's my livelyhood" guys vs the "I work at a 9-5 so i can do this for fun" guys.

It IS quite a diff world.

I think Thats my point exactly. There should be some differentiation.

It's ok that "it is what it is" and the current setup is ok..better than none... but it just erks me to see some great builds go down to a hometown fav or one setup win JUST because it's loud (although ghetto/dirty)-if that were the only criteria we should just lok in the "proof" thread for the highest numbers.

I think it should be either seperate voting categories (i.e. best shop built/best home built/& THEN best install PERIOD) or just have an "overall" winner and award points/best of in each category.

I know it's waaaay more work to do it that way,but if Chode had some free time to figure it out-or just make the "suggestions" thread and set it up democratically it could "build itself" and just improve each month I think it could be a really nice part of the site and might encourage more folks to post builds and get in on the site.

Or maybe Not. I dunno I'm just throwin my 2cents in there (prolly more by now) but I ENJOY the comps more when they're fair and balanced and would like to see others feel that way about this site.

It's a great place and still the only spot I post my opinion for the simple fact that their are some open minds here.

i agree with that.. i build my system for fun. i am not a pro db dragger or bass racer.. i do it for the sport, and to have fun.. my installs are going to be cheap and what i can afford.. i do not have this great paying job.. i might not get the " RESPECT" for my installs, or anything that i do.. which is fine by me.. I show up to get on term lab for the fuck of it.. i am not going to win 1st place at world finals.. hell if i even qualify for world finals that ok by me.. i will give it my best, but like i said.. i do this to have fun, and fun only.. i do not have anyone sponcoring me, i dont get free subs or amps, or anything else..

so.. i am sure there is a bunch of people like me on this site.. I have seen Steves setups in person and they are bad ass.. Fuck when i was at my first competition, doug stockton, bill johnson, and SSB mcclealand where there helpin me out so i could get the most of my system. people that have been doing this for a while, helpin some guy that just had a couple amps and 2 kicker comp 12's in his hatchback.. i did a 137.7 in street b and took 2nd place.. but like i said.. it is that in which got me hooked into this whole thang..

I love bass, and to meet a bunch of people that have the same love for this as i do is bad ass.. so.

I think system of the month should recognize people that do this all day every day for a shop, and people that do this in their garage, and that people that just do this for the fuck of it.. there should be 2 winners for system of the month..

I am just a browser.. I love to see what other people are doing.. seeing their ideas, and seeing how they do things.. I am learning from people who do this. I am no where close to people like lsn2, chode, p-stone, steve, bill johnson. i am just a person who loves to go out and have fun. when i dont have fun doing this anymore, i wont be doing it.. until then i am going to be living it up..

ok...we talked about possibly doing categories in the past. seemed like a good idea but if we are only getting on average 6-8 nominations breaking that down into categories may knock it down to 1-3 nominees. yes it will work but i like having MANY systems to choose from. weve had some TOUGH months where i didnt vote til the end because i couldnt decide. were only getting 50-60 votes out of over 2k members. i would love to see more participation.

im down for any suggestions. i already have a thread where you can throw in your .02

lets all come up with some ideas and ill see if i can work something up for the new year. lets go by this...new year..new approach. well finish out this month regular style and on janyary we`ll have something going where it can be more specified. not so much really strict on this or that but more generalized to a specific area.
