What am I to expect from my little dc 8

Recommended Posts

Recently picked up a DC Level 2 8 D2. I have an Audiopipe Mini 1000rms amp for now. I Have a capacitor, upgraded alternator and second battery. (all were upgraded when I had Viair compressors for my bags before my engine driven compressor). I am getting ready to build my box this weekend hhopefully. I am looking to build one at 1cu/ft tuned to 38hz. From what I have researched my little amp does its rated power woth ease and especially with my electrical set up. I can wire the sub at 4ohm or 1ohm. Which would be best and what do you guys think I will see db wise? Ive played with systems before but always had 15's or 12's and nothing to pricey but I'm stepping up and plan on adding another 8 in the near future.

If you see anything wrong with the box tuning also what would you recommend .

Thanks

Cory

1000 @ 1ohm and 300 @ 4ohm is what its rated and from what I read theyre pretty accurate. Budget amp for now.

And I was thinking the box was a little big for a single eight. Ill redo it a lttle smaller.

Do you think the sub will handle 1000 @ 1ohm or should I wire it at 4 for daily use and bump it up for fun?

Hahaha i wish the little 8 would hit 170 haha that would be ideal. I'd be happy with 140. Thats louder then most my friends that have 12's and 15's. I can hurt their feelings with a little 8.

Tommy McKinnie was running one small sub (can't remember 8 or 10) in his truck for a bit and putting out retarded numbers.

How retarded were the numbers? Like 140's? Or did the TL just display 'Derrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr'?

.8 cu ft @ 35hz sounds great. wire it to 1 ohm and be conservative on the gains. so u have clean power that the 8 will like.. i wouldnt count on a 140. look forward to like 132-135db @ 48hz? something like that.
