C-Fizzy Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 I have a 18O amp Ace alternators alt on my celica. i never really had this problem up until a couple weeks ago, when i start my car up, my voltage is fine, charging around 13.8-14.2. But once my car warms up (about 15 minutes of driving) I will start charging around 13.2. this is whether i have a load on it or not. I can tell its an alt issue because voltage coming directly off the alt is 13.2 volts. all fuses are fine. Is my alt dying? fmedina Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 Any connections came loose? Other than that might just be a bad alt. Quote
C-Fizzy Posted December 14, 2011 Author Report Posted December 14, 2011 nope, all wires are on tight. i'm switching out the alt soon, but it would've been nice to have a spare H/O alt for my car. fmedina Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 Ya. Never heard of ace either. Where you hear them from. Quote
C-Fizzy Posted December 15, 2011 Author Report Posted December 15, 2011 Bought the alt off a member here. They're a company based in southern California. Quote under construction I hate People with crappy primered cars rolling on hubcaps that are louder then me. u hate c-fizzy?
99fullsizechevy Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 Kinda sounds like a bad voltage regulator. Is it internally regulated? If so when it gets hot it could just have a faulty signal Quote Laying frame soon.. System has to wait
C-Fizzy Posted December 15, 2011 Author Report Posted December 15, 2011 I also thought the voltage regulator might be going out. But at this point, it'd be better just to get the new alt. I could probably have this one rebuilt to a 220. But that won't suffice, so my new alt should do. Maybe I'll get this one rebuilt for shits and gigs. 99fullsizechevy Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 Take it to an alt shop.. They should be able to test it and see exactly what is wrong, it's its just a faulty regulator it would prolly be worth the 30-50 bucks to have it in workin condition just in case Quote Laying frame soon.. BFF Larry Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 It is a good idea to keep a spare alt just incase, especially if its a daily driver. I know you said you checked if all your connections are tight, but did any power/ ground wires feel hot Quote Team Clearly Louder (MECA)Team DC Audio ++* SELLING the CACTUS SOUNDS K12 for $1550 shipped *++ HMU!!! 3 flips. nollie flips. big flips. hardflips. - steez Youtube Channel My Build Log 95 Bonneville SSE - WALLED/4th Order - ~30 cubes - *thanks LoganBerry, CortezDVT, Cj18, SuperCharged DC, Ryan-RAM Designs,LoudNLow931*
99fullsizechevy Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 My last truck had the reg burn up in it so it started charging at 15.2v constantly.. Was pretty awesome in my case but it burnt up soon after due to over working itself Quote Laying frame soon.. System has to wait
