MB 1500-D with fi SSD 15. Need help with setting up!

I wanted to say thanks again everyone. I got my old subs hooked up to the MB-1500D at the moment, and it's loud as hell. I'm still waiting on Fi to ship my sub, it's still being built I suppose. According to their site it could take up to 15day to build it. Which is okay because my buddy still hasn't finished my box.

There is a switch that says "Sub-Sonic" I assume that is where I 'tune' the amp. If I'm correct in this where do you guys suggest I move it to? I do not have one of the tuning tools someone mentioned earlier in the thread, I'll have to wing it. Also, how do I find where I need to put the 'level' dial? The sub is a Fi SSD 15" with cooling. According to their site, the RMS is 1000w.

My head-unit (I assume that is the "deck") has 3 options:

LPF-off

LPF-100hz

LPF-80hz

Which do you recommend?

Also are you saying I should turn the LPF on my amp to 85 as well. I'm sorry , I'm a bit confused.

I should have said it, but I'm looking for step-by-step on dialing in my amp. I do not know enough about this stuff to ruin it already. thanks

BTW till my Fi gets here are 2 4ohm (SVC) 150watt-rms Bostwiks okay to run on this amp? I have the amp dialed back to be on the safe side.

Turn the amps low pass all the way set your radio to 80. And my bad my deck dosent have a subsonic filter just low pass lol. But the sub sonic is a lot easier to dial in on a number then the low pass.

Put your deck at about 75% volume. If it goes to 35 set it to 30. If it goes to 50 set it at 40 etc etc.... That is your maximum volume to use. Now with it at that level start with the gain all the way down on the amp. Gain probably says something like 5v on one side .5 on the other. You want to be by the 5v side. Leave it all the way there for now or you will likely blow the subs you have. Once you get the SSD same procedure except now you want to turn the gain up. Starting at the lowest gain setting (5v) or whatever and the head unit (radio) at 75% volume put on a solid bass song or a test tone around 35-40hz. Start slowly turning the gain up. You will hear when the sub stops getting louder. It's like nothing is changing. Stop there and turn the knob back down just a little. Leave it alone and you good to go. Make sure when you get the sub you wire it correctly. Assuming you are getting a dual 2ohm sub. Wire both positives on the sub to the positive on the amp and both negatives on the sub to negative on the amp. The amp has two inputs but it is actually one input. Just has two connections to make it easy. Both positives are the same and same with the negatives. This will put you at a one ohm load on the amp. If the sub is a dual 4ohm same exact thing. But the end result will be a 2 ohm load.

Last thing what about the bass-boost? I see Steve cranking up his knobs in his videos, does that require finer tuning? I would like to able to use mine too, but I dunno how to tune with it. Do I turn it all the way up while tuning? Also what about the base boost from the head-unit? Lastly, is the deck the same thing as the head-unit?

I lied, a few more questions, and I'm sorry for all the silly ones. I would like to make sure though.

My 'level' dial starts at 6V and ends at 0.2V. Is it still the same process? "level" = "Gain" right?

No offense..... I know how some people are. 'ALL THESE KNOBS AND CONTROLS!!!! I WAN'T TO TOUCH!!!"

DON'T! Leave bass boost all the way down. On the head unit no bass boost, loudness, nothing! leave your eq completely flat at 0. Sometimes yes things can be adjusted but when you see steve doing that in a video he has a DD1 or o-scope and knows what he his doing and can tell exactly when clipping or distortion is happening which WILL destroy your speakers and equipment over a short period of time. Just do what I said and let it go.

I didn't read the whole thread. Is the box being built ported or a sealed box? If sealed set your low pass filter at 8O on the amp and if you can't tell exactly where that is turn the low pass filter on the radio on at 8O. again, if sealed, leave the subsonic all the way down.

Ported 25-30hz is where your subsonic filter needs to be set it. It blocks out bass under that frequency which can damage a sub in a ported box and sealed if your not careful and go crazy blasting bass i love you at 100% volume all day long like a lot of you tubers like doing. Don't. ask first. save your equipment
