I know its a lot more work to paint wood and get it nice, as why I am amazed with steve meades towers with piano black finished paint. SQMonte
I painted my first box build, made out of mdf. Shit soaks up paint like a sponge, especially if you did any roundovers, those edges really soak it up. Def gotta lay down some primer first. And on those roundovers, rub some glue on those edges, wipe it off soon after (before it gets tacky), then sand it down a bit before primering or else it'll be shinier in those areas you hit with the glue. When painting, make sure to apply in thin coats....100% coverage on each coat is not necessary. Lucky4Designs
I did one of my boxes with a little paint one time. Since I only painted the baffle and carpeted the rest, I had a little bit of body filler left over from doing bodywork on my Toyota. I just did two thin layers of the Bondo, sanding each layer, and for the final coat I used paper from 100 grit all the way up to 1200 for a smooth finish. Then I layed 3 coats of Candy Apple Green, put my signature on the corner, and did 4 layers of clear coat. ChevyBoy95
The cut edges is what will kill you when painting MDF, its like a sponge. Textured stuff on the edges needs about 3-4 layers to match the sides in my applications.
